Can't to Can - Kiddo Accomplishments
  • One of our early childhood students took his first independent steps this week! Very exciting!
  • One of our early childhood students echoed his first words!
  • A school-age student is now attending school for the entire day, which he was not able to do before!
  • A school-age student is now using his iPad communication application to request things!

Laugh Yourself Blue - Success!

Our 2013 Laugh Yourself Blue event exceeded expectations. Our goal was to raise $50,000 to allow for the purchase of technology/iPads for our therapists and children. We are confident that we reached that goal and beyond! We have already ordered the iPads and they are in route to us.

The event was sold out with approximately 350 attendees - nearly doubling last year's attendance. The opening comedic act, Michael McCreary - who is living with Asperger's Syndrome - was an absolute smash! Firefly Autism was selected by HDR Inc. as Brandon Stokley's charity to receive a $10,000 gift - which will happen on May 8th.

A special thanks to all of you who continue to make our "I Can" journey successful.

Summer Social Skills Events

Beginning Monday, June 3rd through Friday, June 7th, Firefly Autism will offer an intensive 5-day week of social skills instruction embedded within a fun, group format. The camp is developed to meet the social and emotional needs of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and/or Asperger Syndrome. Utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, camp staff help campers effectively express feelings, communicate with others, and develop and maintain friendships in a positive, comfortable environment.

Also, Firefly Autism summer social skills groups (SSGs) will meet on a weekly basis for about 15 sessions for the Summer semester (June to August) at Firefly Autism House. Groups last 2 hours with parent/guardian involvement during the last 15 minutes of the session.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in either the Intensive Social Skills Early Summer Camp or a summer social skills group, please contact Emily Roche no later than May 17th at 303-759-1192, ext 12, or eroche@fireflyautism.org. For more information, please visit our website at www.fireflyautism.org.

Executive Director Update

Spring has finally Sprung!

Dear Friends and Families,

We are in the process of improving our School environment by "sprucing up" our building.  We are doing some painting and  remodeling to improve our learning facilities for our students and staff.  In addition, we are investing in technology to improve our staff's ability to work with our kiddos.  All in all, this is a very exciting time for Firefly Autism.  There can be nothing more important than to invest in our children, who are our future.

Sincerely,

Jason

Thank you to Rita Coltrane and Signature Interiors, for sponsoring Firefly Autism to receive email marketing from Constant Contact, through their Cares4Kids program.

Rita recognizes the relevance of this program to Firefly
Autism and initiated sponsorship to enable the ongoing
