SANDY GRADE UPDATE
OCTOBER 14

Dear Parents:

I hope October is moving along well.  The sun was a welcome change!   Here is what you should know about Sandy Grade and your student's learning.

1. Jog-a-Thon was a huge success.  We have parents asking for another one!

2.  Read, Write, Talk.  To help your student learn and support our school's focus on expert reading and writing, please expect your student or students to read at least the following minutes per grade at home:  K-3-30 minutes, 4- 5- 45 minutes. "Reading" can include reading aloud with your student, writing down a story they have to tell and reading it together, telling a story from your growing up years or a familiar cultural story.  If you are bilingual, please talk and or read in your first language to your student.  They need these ideas in the language that was fist spoken to them so they can transfer it to English AND keep their wonderful first language.  So, Read! Write! Talk! A lot. In every language!

3.  Wednesday 10/16. Parent Coffees at the Ant Farm in Sandy 39140 Proctor Blvd. Sandy, OR 97055 (503) 622-3548.   Come get questions answered, ask new questions, meet other parents and find out how to work together to continue to make Sandy Grade the school you want for your children!
