PHWS Variety Show
Calls for Talent

This coming January 11, 2014, Grades 6, 7 & 8 students will host a Variety Show and Dinner; a community based friendraiser - fundraiser. Please save the date in your calendar.

In order for it to be a meaningful experience, we need you - first and foremost -  to plan to attend and enjoy! Secondly, we will be joining efforts with other classes to make light work, but will need some adult organizational volunteers. Thirdly, please consider entering an act in the show. We want the students of course, but this is a great time to appreciate what our adult community has to offer! There is plenty of time to plan!  What talent can you offer? Can you combine with other community members to make a group act?  Do you have a suggestion of someone who might be too humble to come forward but we could personally ask? This is a great opportunity to know and enjoy the great people of this community better. Your participation is so greatly appreciated! Contact Patti Beres for more information [email protected]

Private School Tuition Tax Break for 2014

The tax deduction begins in the 2014 tax year.Taxpayers can deduct up to $4,000 for tuition paid for dependent children in grades kindergarten through eighth and up to $10,000 for high school students.

The tax deduction is expected to save Wisconsin parents up to $30 million in 2014-2015. Since the tax break is set up as a deduction, the average Wisconsin family would get a $240 tax cut per elementary and middle school child and a $600 tax cut for each high school student.

Get Your Poinsettias!

They are only $14 each or 3 for $35. Plus, nearly half of each sale supports the school! We'd love to exceed last year's goal! If each family ordered three plants, we could easily do so! They make great gifts for neighbors, family, and business clients.
Also, ask family and friends if they would like to order for themselves. Forms were put in family mailboxes and extra forms are by the Yuletide board. Return forms to Arnold family mailbox with payment no later than

Harvest Bonfire

Saturday, November 2
3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
We could use a few volunteers to be "fire keepers" at the bonfire, who would arrive first/early to get the fire started, as well as a few who could help organize the games. (We were thinking sack races, three-legged race, hanging apples from a tree, etc... we're also open to ideas!)  *Please indicate in your Evite response if you're able to help out.
Grade 8 Students Help Lakota Waldorf, You Can Too

Last year's Grade 7/8 class visited the Lakota Waldorf School in May to perform service work. It was an eye-opener for these children to see this level of poverty. Despite this poverty, they have founded a wonderful Waldorf school near Kyle, SD on the Pine Ridge Reservation. It is the only Waldorf school on a Native American reservation. The Lakota people joined with Waldorf because it agrees with the true Lakota teaching methods and reflect the Lakota values. Both respect the sacredness and individuality of each child and teaches through experience and pictoral thinking rather than concepts.

This year's Grade 8 class is asking for much-needed donations of: dishes (not plastic please), silverware, mittens, hats, coats, clothing, food, toiletries, toys, and lastly money. The donation bin will be in the front entrance between the front entry doors. Monetary donations can be given to Sally Somer in the School Office. Our driver will be picking up and taking the donations to South Dakota on  November  6.
