Case Study: Team Building

Recently, I completed a team building/communication process that involved DISC.

My client had more than ten employees complete DISC/PIAV reports. Rather than have on-one-one debriefings with each employee, I met with the CEO and manager for a summary debriefing.

We highlighted the relevant information in each of the reports. They found the information to be very useful in their business planning. Then a week later we held a Communication Workshop with the employees, the owner and manager. The team was very engaged and it was extremely productive.

The workshop included:

  • An overview of DISC/PIAV
  • How to better understand, appreciate and work with different communication styles
  • A review of each of their individual communication styles from their report
  • A review of each of their motivators from their report
  • A ranking of each of their communication do's and don'ts from their report

Court-Appointed CASA

Following weeks of training, I was recently appointed by a Contra Costa County judge in the juvenile dependency courts, as a CASA volunteer to speak up for the best interests of a foster child in court.

CASA youth are abused, neglected and abandoned children in our community and many times, CASA volunteers are the only consistent and caring adult presence in their lives.

Food for Thought

WPO Facilitation

Having attended the annual Women President's Organization (WPO) Conference and Facilitator's training over the summer, I focused my attention on connecting with as many of my Diablo Valley Chapter members as possible, preparing for the transition and facilitating my first meeting with the group.

It was my pleasure to meet with several of the 17 chapter members one-on-one, over coffee, wine and even walks before facilitating my first group meeting at the beginning of the month.

Each of these successful entrepreneurial women is interesting and amazing. I remain committed and honored to have the opportunity as the WPO Diablo Valley Chapter Chair, to help "bring out the genius of this remarkable group".

George Dom on Leadership

I had the pleasure of meeting George Dom, former Commanding Officer/Flight Leader of the Navy's Blue Angels. George facilitated a private presentation on "High Trust Leadership-A Decisive Advantage", which was exhilarating and insightful in its application to business. These are some of George's thoughts on what defines leadership:

  • Vision
  • Unwillingness to accept the status quo
  • Influence

Leadership =  change. Change arouses fear and anxiety. A leader overcomes fear with TRUST. A

leader must be trusted and trust is a continuum.

I highly recommend George to any business leader who is interested in a unique leadership presentation. Additional information about George Dom.
