E-Service Begins September 30, 2013 |
On September 30, 2013, e-service that is compliant with Rule 2.516 will be available to attorneys on the portal.
You're already accustomed to these tabs: Case Information; Parties; Documents; Payment; and Review & Submit. On September 30, you'll see a new tab right after the Documents tab, "Service List". On this tab, you'll see attorneys who have filed at least one document on this case electronically, so that you can select them for service. This area will reflect all email addresses they have listed and the portal will serve them with your efiled documents if you select them for service. You will also have the ability to add other attorneys and interested parties for e-service; only you will see these additions and only you will be able to delete them.
Those receiving service will see these choices in the email whose content follows the requirements of Rule 2.516, and will have a pdf attachment of the document efiled. Also on this tab you can select whether to use your profile email address, or you can select "below listed email addresses" and add up to three email addresses per case.
We think this will be a great boon for you and will save time and the expense of paper mailings. Please avail yourself of the training noted below if you'd like to learn more about this great service! |
E-Filing Training Opportunities |
The Florida Courts Clerks & Comptrollers will be hosting free e-filing training webex seminars designed to assist attorneys, paralegals or any other law firm staff with e-filing with a focus on e-service. There are currently four remaining webex training sessions scheduled over the next several weeks:

The training will be offered through webex, an online interactive conferencing software. To participate in any of the scheduled webex training, click on the link above for the meeting you wish to attend. You will be able to enter the meeting 15 minutes before the start time. Criminal E-Filing Begins
Effective October 1, 2013, attorneys are mandated to electronically file in criminal cases. As you'll recall, a mandate for civil e-filing took effect on April 1, 2013. Criminal e-filing will be very similar; you'll just have more selections when you choose the division in which you'll e-file.
Since April 1, under Division, the following choices have been available: Appeals (county to circuit); Circuit Civil; County Civil (small claims and county civil); Probate (mental health, guardianship and probate); Domestic Relations/Family; and Juvenile Dependency. Those divisions will remain, and as of October 1, the following new divisions may be selected: Circuit Criminal (felony); County Criminal (misdemeanor, non-traffic infractions, municipal ordinance violations, and county ordinance violations); Criminal Traffic; Civil Traffic; and Juvenile Delinquency.
Another positive change attorneys will notice is that, for criminal e-filing, the same document groups and document types will be available in all counties. There are 17 documents groups and up to 402 document types; in an effort to become more consistent in the presentation on the portal, local clerks are limited in adding additional document types. However, if you do not find a document type you need, give us a call and let us guide you to the best selection. Given local practices and administrative orders, there will be some local differences. |
