This week's exciting arrivals: snow that stuck to the ground long enough for us to wake up to white and...ipads!

This week we got a set of ipads for use in our classroom, thanks to a generous grant from the Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Foundation.  We are so grateful for this special support from the Foundation! Everyone is so excited to learn, create and explore using these new tools. Above, Amelia practices Hebrew using one of the new devices.

In other news, everyone at MJCDS smells like oil today. Aimee Coen, who teaches cooking with a scientific twist, led the students in latke making which included lessons in:
* Potato Oxidation (why the turning brown after grating?) and
* Why Do we Cry When Chopping Onions?

Thanks to Aimee as well as to MJCDS alum Vered Ben-Gideon for assisting.

Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Rebecca

Indoor Shoes

The season of muddy and wet boots has arrived. Please have your child bring a pair of indoor shoes to keep at school so that we can keep our classroom dry and mud-free.  Shoes that are easy to slip into and that have a non-skid sole are preferable. Todah Rabbah!

At the beginning of each day students read in our reading nook.

For her birthday, Lilah H. and her family asked friends to give books that would be donated to MJCDS for student use.  The books are from the "Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists" series. Here, Lilah H. presents the books to the school.  Todah Rabbah to Lilah and her family!
