The Maggid:  The Weekly Newsletter of MJCDS

If you walk into MJCDS on a Wednesday afternoon, you might see children filling life-sized self-portraits with a riot of color. Or you might observe groups of children rehearsing shadow-puppet shows. Or you could encounter students learning about the concept of perspective by drawing sukkot.

What's most fascinating about any of these projects is that the results are always so varied, revealing the unique ideas and feelings of each student artist, says MJCDS art teacher Trista Warrich.

""When I see the students' art, I see their own ideas are both original and full of personal meaning," she says  "Each student's art always ends up being very different, even if they all draw the same still life. Through seeing where they take the assignment, I really get to know them."

You can read more about our art program in the upcoming edition of the Madison Jewish News!  In the meantime, enjoy a glimpse of the students' work by scrolling down to see photos of the life-sized silhouette paintings.

Or see more student artwork when you attend this weekend's Fall Open House for prospective families.  The whole family is invited to explore our classroom, talk with our faculty and learn more about what MJCDS has to offer.

Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Rebecca

School Security
Please use the Randall street door to enter the BIC building. The ramp access door should only be used at dismissal time. On Fridays when you arrive for Kabbalat Shabbat, or if you are coming to school at any time during the school day, you should use the Randall Street door. That door is always unlocked during school hours, and each parent should know the code for the inner magnetized door. If you don't, please contact Rabbi Ben-Gideon. Thank you for your help in keeping our school secure.

Friday Coffees at the Froth House
Join other MJCDS parents at the Froth House (11 N Allen St) each Friday after drop-off. Questions? Contact Aimee Coen at alcoen@gmail.com.
