Share a Shabbat
Friday evening, Nov. 1
The celebration of Shabbat has been an important part of our Jewish heritage for thousands of years. Let's celebrate together by having Shabbat dinner with other MJCDS families on Friday, Nov. 1.
Rabbi Ben-Gideon will help match host and guest families. Hosts will determine the details of the evening in their homes.
To participate as a guest or a host, please email Rabbi Ben-Gideon or return the interest form to her no later than October 11.
We hope this intimate Shabbat setting will not only be a joyous experience, but also the beginning of new friendships.
Extra Clothes
If you have not yet sent in an extra outfit for your child to have at school, please do so as soon as possible. If possible, please send it in a bag labeled with your child's name. Thank you!

This week may have been short but it was packed with learning and fun. We said goodbye to our first class pet, a small frog Lila C. brought in who is now back in the wild. We said hello to a new class pet frog brought in by Jonathan. Students begin each morning by watching the animal and sharing their observations. (photo below)
We shook the lulav and ate in the sukkah this week. We ate snacks with family and friends in the sukkah. (Thanks to all the families who brought snacks to share!) And we explored a nearby playground.
Today is Hoshanah Rabbah, the last day of Sukkot. Students participated in the lulav parades (hoshanot) along with Beth Israel Center minyan-goers and beat willows on the ground, a tradition specific to this day. Thanks to BIC minyannaires who welcomed our students so warmly. (More photos on our flickr photostream)
