The Maggid:  The Weekly Newsletter of MJCDS

What a great start to the year!  We welcomed 13 students to school this week, grades K-4, and began MJCDS's sixth year of bringing Jewish day school education to Madison.

It's the month of Elul, a time when we reflect on what's important to us and think about the kinds of lives we would like to live in the new year.

During the first week of school, that means thinking about how we treat fellow students and creating routines and habits that will set students up for a successful year of learning. One way we do that is through our Morning Assembly, or Aseifa. Each morning we set a tone for the day that's both joyful and reflective as students from all grades join together for tefillot (prayers), a brief discussion, and a song.

Lots of photos are below, but if you'd like to see more, you can find them hereNot pictured: yesterday's bubble festival at recess and today's challah-making in the yard outside.

Shabbat Shalom!

Families are invited to join us each Friday at 1:30 pm to welcome in Shabbat as a community.

We'll sing, tell stories, eat challah and drink grape juice as we welcome the Sabbath Bride and celebrate the learning we've done all week long.
