Shalom! |
In the photo above, MJCDS students perform the song Eretz Zavat Chalav U'Devash, A Land Flowing with Milk and Honey, at Madison's community Yom HaAtzmaut celebration.
Students also led the community in reciting a prayer written by our fourth and fifth graders in Hebrew and in English for Israel, which they called "the cradle of our culture" and "the home of our souls." We were very proud of them!
We have several events coming up that you should mark on your calendar today.
*MJCDS's first graduation is coming up soon. It will take place Thursday, June 6. Stay tuned for details.
*Parents' Night is also approaching. It is an opportunity for parents to have a relaxed evening out with wine and snacks, and for those who would like to know more about our school to chat with current parents about their experiences. It is being hosted by MJCDS parents Yaniv Lazimy and Trista Warrich at the home of our own Morah Clara Lazimy and her husband Rafi. Many thanks to the whole Lazimy clan, and I hope to see you there. More information is below.
*Make time for a sweet treat on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 22 and meet MJCDS at Menchies of Middleton, which will donate 20% of proceeds to our school.
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Rebecca

Torah for your Table | Challenge: Bake a Challah and shape it according to the Parashah!
Every week, Julie Seltzer, artist and Torah scribe, bakes a challah depicting an aspect of the week's Torah portion. Here is her challah idea for this coming week.
"In Parashat Emor, the Torah commands us to count the period from Passover to Shavuot. This period is called the "omer" and it is seven weeks long. The challah array depicted here represents all 49 days of the Omer period. The lone poppy-seeded roll indicates the day of the omer counted at the time the challah was made (counting from the right, it looks like it was the 20th day of the omer)."
