Shalom!
We have a lot to celebrate today.  It's Chanukkah and Rosh Hodesh, and Shabbat is almost here.  This week students performed for and then visited with seniors at Oakwood and Wynwood residences.  This day is my favorite day of school each year.  I felt so proud of all of our students as I watched them introduce themselves and then chat with senior friends.

Fourth and fifth graders are experimenting with computer animation with art instructor Kathy Mazur.  Click on the picture above to watch Arik's animated Hanukkah card, and click here to see more moving Hanukkah greetings!

Saturday night, our school community will gather at the Greenspans for havdalah, Hanukkah candlelighting, and learning with our community Shlichim, Yehonatan and Eden.

Finally, our hearts go out at this time to the families in Connecticut who have lost loved ones in a tragic event there today.  We have not shared this upsetting news with students.  If you would like resources on talking to your kids about difficult events in the news, click here.

Shabbat Shalom, Hodesh Tov and
Hag Urim Sameah (Happy Holiday of Lights),

Hanukkah & Havdalah Party
Saturday night, December 15, 6 pm, Greenspan home
Join us for an MJCDS community Hanukkah party this Saturday evening, December 15. Festivities will begin after Shabbat and will include Havdalah, Hanukkah candlelighting, and of course, food and friends.   Madison's Shlichim Yehonatan and Eden will be with us to lead a discussion on the Maccabees & Jewish Heroes.  Todah Rabbah to Dan and Leslie Greenspan for hosting!

TODAH RABBAH
Thanks to everyone who planned and participated in last week's Hanukkah Tzedakah event Coat Drive and no-sew scarf project!  Special thanks to Nancy Brower, Sarah Byer and Trista Warrich who organized and staffed the MJCDS booth!
