Shalom!
Eight crazy nights are finally here!

Today, K-3 students are sending home a special Hanukkah gift for their parents: seven canvases that were inspired by 1) the six days of creation and the first Shabbat, 2) seven classical works and styles of art, and 3) seven coordinating songs.

This Sunday, students will perform Hanukkah songs as part of the Madison Jewish community's Hanukkah Tzedakah fair.  Please bring along any extra children's winter coats you have at home for our coat drive at this wonderful event.

Next Monday, students will perform songs and visit with residents at two local senior living homes.

Finally, next Saturday night, our school community will gather at the Greenspans for havdalah, Hanukkah candlelighting, and learning with our community Shlichim, Yehonatan and Eden.

Shabbat Shalom and
Hag Urim Sameah (Happy Holiday of Lights),

At Kabbalat Shabbat last week:  Naomi and Trista share a booklet and a laugh; Founding Head of School Merle Sweet came to visit and shared with us one of his favorite Shabbat memories.  Thanks, Merle!

Hanukkah & Havdalah Party
Saturday night, December 15, 6 pm, Greenspan home
Join us for an MJCDS community Hanukkah party Saturday evening, December 15. Festivities will begin after Shabbat and will include Havdalah, Hanukkah candlelighting, and of course, food and friends.   Madison's Shlichim Yehonatan and Eden will be with us to lead a discussion on the Maccabees & Jewish Heroes.  Todah Rabbah to Dan and Leslie Greenspan for hosting!

Madison Community Hanukkah Celebration
Sunday Dec. 9, 3:30-5:30, Goodman Campus in Verona
Students will perform Hanukkah songs at this annual event sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Madison.  Plan to come and celebrate.  Sponsored by the JFM Family Education Committee. JFM will be collecting donations (suggested amount is $5/family) for The Road Home and the Camp Shalom Scholarship Fund.

Students should wear dark pants and a solid colored top of any color.  Please be sure students arrive by 3:30.  This will enable them to have a few minutes of practice before they perform.

Hanukkah Coat Drive--this SUNDAY
Also at the Hanukkah Celebration listed above, we will collect clean child-sized winter coats that will be donated to the Community Action Coalition, along with no-sew fleece scarves that kids can create at the MJCDS booth. Many thanks to Nancy Brower, Sarah Byer and Trista Warrich of our Kehillah Committee for organizing!  Volunteers are needed to staff the booth.  Please contact Sarah Byer at sarah.byer@hotmail.com to help.
