    2014: The Cruise Ships Return

"The Ministry of Tourism for Sinaloa told reporters that the return of cruise ships has benefited service providers, shops, tour operators, restaurants and a variety of vendors to the tune of 110 million pesos ($8.5 million). Mazatl�n's Port Authority estimates that each arriving cruise ship brought with it an average of 2,400 passengers, the third highest tourists per ship in the last 14 years."

 Mazatlan Ends 2014 with 100 Percent Hotel Occupation

 

''The final days of 2014 are coming to a close with Mazatl�n hotels registering a 100 percent occupation rate and an "invasion" of tourists celebrating the New Year by the beach.
It is estimated that holiday visitors will improve the port�s economy by 250 million pesos, said the Association of Hotels and Motels president Jos� Ram�n Manguart S�nchez."

Beginning tomorrow, January 1, 2015 at 12:01pm, all landline and cellular long distance phone calls within Mexico are free and will appear on monthly statements as a local call. 
Cellphone callers will continue to use 045 and 044 when making the call and those with landlines will preface the long distance call with 01 or 02 as previously.

"Although it's still too early to know how many monarch butterflies made the annual migration this year from the United States and Canada, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has decided to go ahead and determine if the insect should be classified as an endangered species. The director of Mexico's Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve says the numbers appear to be up this year, although an official census won't be ready until the middle of this month.''

Welcome to 2015!!

It's been a whirlwind of a year here in Mazatlan! Between the federal reforms, the Baluarte Bridge opening and bringing in more National visitors, the cruise ships returning, Mayor Felton making improvements, to just name a few, it has been hard to keep up. Let's have another great year!
