 20,000 Tablets donated to students

''
The Mazatln civil association, Vecinos con Cario, in coordination with the State government, is planning to donate 20,000 electronic tablets to primary school children with few resources, in particular children of farm workers.
Rudy Villalobos, president of the 30-member association of foreigners living in Mazatln, explained they want to provide portable computers at a low cost to students to give them the option of studying at home rather than leaving school.

"Derman said he believes the Houston energy sector is in a prime position to capitalize on Mexico opening up because Houston is the energy sector of the world and because Mexico is so close to the region. He likened doing business in Mexico to the short flights and ease of commuting to Oklahoma City.
"I think it's going to be a really great opportunity, and there's going to be a lot of people looking," Derman said. "I think the largest risk will be competition. There's a lot of (global) energy focused on Mexico right now, pun intended."

"Twenty years ago Juan Morales shut his beautifully preserved 19th-century mill in Morelos, a village in Coahuila close to the Texan border, after reductions to subsidies made the flour business unprofitable. Now he hopes the mill will get a new lease of life, thanks to a historic energy reform by President Enrique Pea Nieto. Instead of producing flour, Mr Morales plans to generate electricity, using water from his millstream and a newly acquired power turbine. For the first time he will be able to sell it to the local grid."

Hola!!

It's been a cloudy, rainy week in Mazatlan. Elida never made it to shore, but she certainly affected our weather! Things have been washed off well, the mornings have been glorious, and our little spot in the world is turning green and blooming.

Public safety seems to be still ruling the news in Mazatlan. The buses want their own lane, motorcycle riders are being ticketed for no helmets, and a campaign has begun for respecting handicapped spaces
In other local news, Zona Dorada businesses are being offered loans for modernization, and the city is purchasing new vehicles

Congratulations are also in order for the aquarium! Five green guacamayas, said to be the most intelligent of the bird species, were born at the Mazatln aquarium this week. This is part of a conservation program for this endangered species.

One more thing; we are asking you to submit any questions regarding real estate and/or Mazatlan. Are you curious about the bank trust system, capital gains tax, or maybe our favorite place for tortilla soup? No question is too big or too small and we will answer them on our YouTube channel! Send those questions in today!

We will see you next week!
