Costs and taxes when selling a Mexican property

''Depending on your nationality, your 'home' government may require you to pay taxes on any gains you realize from your Mexican property. Whether you have to pay, and how much depends on your country's tax policies, your residency status, and whether your home country has a tax-agreement in place with Mexico (if it does, then usually any taxes you pay to the Mexican government can be deducted from any additional taxes owed to your home government).''

''If you are buying a house in a gated community, or an apartment, be sure to check on the annual service fees, and have these put in writing. Service fees can range from US$100 a year to US$1000+ a year, depending on location, number of houses or apartments in the enclosure and amenities offered.''

Hola amigos!

We finally had a good storm come through Mazatlan! It happened Wednesday night with thunder, lightning, and a deluge of rain. The next morning was lovely, clean, and crisp!

A few other things of interest this week; Sectur and Malova are in California and Calgary promoting Mazatlan, dengue prevention has started, some projects in Centro Historico are being revisited, and have a complaint for the city? Send them a photo!

This week is ''agent picks''. Eric chose his favorite sale properties for you to peruse. Beach? Of course! Golf? Yes! Luxury? You know it! Bargains? Definately!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Tequila Nation: Mexico Reckons With Its Complicated Spirit

''The Tequila Chamber of Commerce and the Tequila Regulation Council are now very focused on what is happening with tequila all over the world, says Navarro. And they make sure that tequila produced in tequila country is actually tequila because of the agave they are using and the amount in the final product. There have long been troubles with people both in and outside of Mexico producing something they label as tequila that is not true tequila, not 100 percent blue agave."
