We don't mind saying that we've had
quite a few anxious moments in the
missing. But thanks to the power of social media, lots of legwork, and a sharing, caring community, the pups
all made it home safe and sound!
You can read more below about AnimalSense Trainer Lynda Lobo's experiences when her dog Ryan went on an extended solo tour of Chicago earlier this month.
In other news, we've added a "Backyard" module to our Rolling Admissions classes, to help get your
dogs in shape for barbecues and outdoor parties this spring and summer. This module will focus on the all-important "drop it" cue, as well as recall and release exercises. If you haven't signed up for one of our Rolling Admissions classes yet, remember that you can start any time!
Best wishes from the AnimalSense Gang!

On Junior Trainer Lynda Lobo's birthday earlier this month, her dog Ryan escaped from the backyard and went missing for five long days. Each day of the search was sixteen hours or more of handing out flyers, following up on leads, and driving all over the city. During that time, Ryan's information was shared almost 7,000 times on Facebook, and seen by over 200,000 people. Lynda's excellent post on the lessons she learned from losing a pet is over on the Rover-Time blog.

Steve with Rookie, in Safe Humane Chicago's Lifetime Bonds program.
|
One of our newest trainers, Yvonne Feeney, is on the Board of Directors at Safe Humane Chicago and is a volunteer (with her dog, Sasha) in their Lifetime Bonds program, which brings at-risk kids and at-risk dogs together. The kids are incarcerated teen boys at the Illinois Youth Center who have had a rough start to life and need a helping hand (or paw) to get them back on the right track. A few of them have dogs as pets in their family, while others only know property dogs in their neighborhoods - chained in the yard to bark at intruders - and some have even been to dog fights as children. The goal of the Lifetime Bonds program is to instill compassion for living beings and to help break the cycle of violence. You can read more about this amazing program here. If you'd like to learn about how you can help, go to the Safe Humane Chicago website.

Underlying stress, fear, or simple confusion is often to blame for common, unwanted behaviors in dogs. In this workshop, you'll be introduced to the Tellington TTouch® Training Method -
a no-force, no-fear approach to training that complements other positive training methods, addressing underlying concerns or issues that traditional
training overlooks. It's a gently powerful method that helps decrease stress and increase focus, calm and resilience in dogs, while deepening the bond you and your pet share.
Join Betsy Lane of PetKiDo for one of these amazing and effective sessions - your dog will love you for it!
