Hands On Training

Trainer Touches on Benefits of Agility
Our new Junior Trainer, Nancy Paolucci, started on her journey of learning about dog behavior nine years ago, when she adopted her first dog. "I wanted to understand how she learned, why she acted the way that she did and how my actions affected her. As I started reading up on dog behavior, I couldn't get enough. The more I read, the more I wanted to learn and share my knowledge with others," said Nancy. So, she enrolled in a six-month program at CanineLink, where she shone. |

Nancy and Bree, one of her three dogs, also shine on the agility course. They've been working in agility for over a year now, which Nancy says has had a positive effect on their relationship. "In agility it is very important to clearly communicate direction and speed to your dog with your body movement and positioning; words are not necessary. Since working on this in class, I have cut down on the amount of verbal communication with Bree and have increased communicating with my body. She is focusing and responding to me even more," said Nancy. Nancy is excited to join the training team at AnimalSense because she says she has seen first-hand that positive training methods get results. Her favorite behavior to teach? Touch. "Not only is it great for focus, but it can also be used in loose leash walking, recall and agility," said Nancy.
Nancy will be assisting classes on Wednesdays at Canine Crews in Chicago and Thursdays at Pet Vets in Oak Park during our Fall session.
