Welcome Debbie Bickford to our Training Team

Greetings!

It's not often AnimalSense finds a training match made in heaven... someone who totally embraces positive training like we do, someone who believes in the strong bond that is possible between dogs and humans, and someone who is truly dedicated to improving pet parents' lives with their dogs.

Debbie Bickford is that dog trainer, and we are proud to welcome her to the AnimalSense family.

Debbie has been training dogs over 15 years, most recently at Tucker Pups. Learn more in her bio. We asked Debbie to share her thoughts on joining the AnimalSense team.

Why are you excited to be a part of the AnimalSense team?

Having been a solo trainer for so many years, I'm really looking forward to having other colleagues to bounce ideas off of. It will be a welcome change to have other trainers to collaborate with.

What do you hope to bring to our clients?

I always hope that I bring my best advice from my many years of experience and education, to each individual client.

What is your favorite behavior to train?

I love to train the "Wait" behavior.  It's useful in many different scenarios, easy to teach, and owners get a big dose of how smart their dog is, which makes them want to train more!

What is the best thing about training dogs?

The best thing about training dogs is that it brings you closer to their heart and mind.

Debbie will be teaching classes at Canine Crews on Wednesday evenings for our Spring II session. Join her for Pittie Perfection and Welcome Home.

Have you Signed up for Spring II?

Our Spring II session of classes is just around the corner. Don't get caught snoozing and miss your chance to improve your relationship with your dog and get better behavior as a result. Classes begin April 21st!

Shy Dog Do you have a skiddish dog? Dealing with every day things in life can be a tall order for timid dogs. Build their confidence in our Shy Dogs class. If you think you know why your dog is a scaredy cat, read Trainer Katie Moody's blog on Myths about Fearful Dogs.

Does your dog walk you? Get your dog's leash manners in check so you can enjoy springtime walks with our Recall & Leash Manners.

Help your dog deal with the distractions of every day life with our  Focus: Distraction Training for the Real World.

Dog on Books Have a puppy? Start him off on the right paw to success with our Puppy Pre-School or  Puppy Grade School, depending on his age. Got a four-legged teenager who's trying your patience (sorry, but we can't help with the two-legged kind)? Our Middle Management will help you handle this transitional time. Take all three classes (at a BIG discount) in our Training Tracks program.

Check out our entire Spring II class schedule. Classes start in just two weeks!

Don't see a class offered in your area yet? We'll come to you! Check out our in-home Private Training packages offered seven days a week to fit your schedule.

Stroke of Genius

Our trainers recently explored their artistic side during a team building event at Arts N Spirits. We relaxed and enjoyed time together painting while sipping wine. It was such a fun time! At the end of the night, we all took home our original works of art.

Lovey is Quite Lovely

AnimalSense loves our clients so much that we want to share their awesomeness with you. We're going to profile them in our newsletters, on our website and through our social media channels. So, keep an eye out for your dog, who could be in the spotlight next!

Lovey Swims Meet Lovey. This 2 1/2-year-old Lab Pitt mix enjoyed our first Pittie Perfection class. Lovey loves the water. She dock dives at her summer home, swims at the sandbar and takes boat rides. Her mom, Terry, answered these questions for us.

How did your dog come to be a part of your family?

We were looking for a new member of our family. We visited Wrightway Rescue in Niles and took her home a couple days later. Of course, she was the cutest dog there and the most affectionate.

What are you hoping to achieve by training?

I love the training and so does Lovey! I train to fulfill Lovey's need to work, to bond and build on our relationship, and to mentally and physically challenge her.

What's the most valuable thing you've learned in class so far?

Relaxation Protocol without a doubt.  When Lovey is having what we call a puppy moment or is stressed, we immediately go into relaxation protocol mode. It works every time. I would suggest a training class to every dog owner. I've also learned to relax and let her be a dog. I'm still working on that.

What's your dog's favorite part of class?

Treats, treats and more treats!

Congrats to our Spring I Grads

Congratulations tJoey Graduateso all of our students and pet parents for a successful Spring I session.

It was wonderful having you in class, and we hope you'll join us for another round in Spring II.

Here's Joey from our Focus class in Old Town. Top notch job, Joey!
