Introducing Go Green Financing from Energy Upgrade California (Click to view video)
|
The Energy Network is working with Energy Upgrade CaliforniaŽ to spread the word about Go Green Financing, a new tool to help residents and businesses find the best financing options available for their next energy efficiency project.
Through this fun interactive tool, which includes The Energy Network's residential financing programs, residents and businesses can browse the database of financing solutions and filter the various options down, making it easy to get in touch with a lender that fits their unique needs and preferences. Several options can be selected and compared side-by-side, or individual options can be viewed for more detailed information and terms.

Making Energy Efficiency Accessible through Peer-to-Peer Workshops

Huntington Beach Councilmember Jill Hardy kicking-off the January peer-to-peer workshop and introducing The Energy Network

Public agencies throughout Southern California are now sharing how they have completed energy efficiency retrofit projects with the assistance of The Energy Network. Enrolled agencies who have taken action are becoming 'network leaders' -- sharing lessons learned and best practices for the future while making energy efficiency expertise accessible to neighboring agencies.
Just last month the City of Huntington Beach hosted their first peer-to-peer workshop detailing their experience of working alongside The Energy Network to retrofit approximately 2,300 streetlights, park lights and parking lot lights throughout the City for a total of 1.4 million kWh in savings and $342,000 in incentives. The City of Huntington Beach utilized a customized approach of services from The Energy Network including support with streetlight inventory and calculations, incentive application assistance and securing $1,062,924 in Energy Project Lease Financing, which provides low-interest financing to public agencies for energy efficiency, water conservation and renewable energy projects.

The Energy Network also assisted the City with incentive applications for retrofitting another 264 lights in a busy, downtown parking garage which resulted in an additional 170,454 kWh in savings and secured an extra $36,031 in incentives. With past project success under their belt, the City is now exploring additional potential projects and looking to The Energy Network to help answer questions and guide the projects along the way.
As a result of this workshop, The Energy Network enrolled its 76th agency and numerous other neighboring agencies expressed interest in learning more about the Program.

IEUA's $1.4 Million Lighting Project
"The Agency's Board of Directors has adopted a policy goal of being energy independent from the grid during peak periods by 2020. By setting that goal, we have embarked on an aggressive track to expand our efforts in reducing our demand for energy and reliance on the grid within the next four years. The Energy Network has provided valuable additional resources to identify and prioritize real energy-saving options, and continues to provide input to ensure our internal practices see measurable benefits by 2020."
Joe Grindstaff, General Manager, IEUA

The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA), which serves approximately 850,000 people in western San Bernardino County, has been recognized as a regional leader in both environmental stewardship and energy management by adopting a business goal of achieving peak power independence by 2020.
Since January 2015, The Energy Network has supported IEUA in implementing specific projects as identified in the Agency's Energy Management Plan. Recently, on February 17, the IEUA Board of Directors approved a $1.4 million agency-wide lighting efficiency project that will start immediately by utilizing The Energy Network's expedited procurement model, dramatically accelerating the project design, construction, and completion timeline.

The Energy Network will support this project by providing the Agency with on-demand project management and technical services from start to finish. In addition, The Energy Network will assist in arranging financial support and securing incentives and rebates. The project will cover approximately 2,590 lighting retrofits, including both interior and exterior lights throughout 6 different agency facilities.
"The Energy Network has assisted IEUA by identifying energy efficiency opportunities and prioritizing projects to advance our goal of peak power independence. The projects we are working on with The Energy Network allow us to systematically step closer and closer to our goal. The lighting project that our Board just approved will be easily implemented. With this momentum, we will continue to take advantage of The Energy Network's services for projects like these."
Pietro Cambiaso, Senior Engineer, IEUA

This is the first IEUA project to reach this important milestone in collaboration with The Energy Network, with several other energy efficiency and process optimization projects currently underway, including pump optimizations, treatment plant process optimization and retrofits.
Whether it is helping an agency prioritize projects by quantifying kWh savings and cost savings or providing the expertise needed to identify and implement projects through completion, The Energy Network is there every step of the way.
"The Energy Network staff has been continuously responsive throughout the project phases, which in turn promoted the project schedule."
Adham Almasri, Senior Engineer and Lighting Project PM, IEUA
