LA County EEMIS Update

In March of 2015, the EEM suite product line known as EEMIS was sold by McKinstry to a new company called Energy Hippo Inc. Energy Hippo has been working diligently to update the product software to version 4.0 and it is targeted to be deployed for Los Angeles County users by the end of January 2016.

Version 4.0 is a major commitment to new technologies and includes the deployment of many front end changes for an improved user experience using latest Microsoft technologies. Version 4.0 will implement the building blocks to refresh the front end and create a cleaner look while providing the ability to be accessed by modern browsers and mobile devices.

New Functionality
Monthly Weather Normalization Engine to adjust historic energy based on weather sensitivity and actual and historic weather conditions. Users will be able to review how the monthly energy consumption change is related to different weather conditions and how the change is due to other factors such as operating patterns.  Additional weather normalization reports will be
released in future versions.

New Technology & Usability
  • Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014 support - this modern framework will provide users with the latest changes in technology
  • New Middleware and Gateways - greatly enhanced speed, reliability and overall performance of EEMIS Suite's interval data collection systems
  • New Browser Support includes Google Chrome, latest IE and Firefox
  • Mobile Compatibility for phones and tablets.

Palmdale Homeowners Are Also Going Green

Home Upgrade rebates are helping homeowners save on energy efficiency upgrades to their home. One example is John Gaddis, a Palmdale homeowner participating in The Energy Network's Home Upgrade program, who was featured on episode 27 of Backdrop Palmdale. In this video, John explains why he chose to go with the Home Upgrade program and how it will
help him save energy, money and the environment while keeping his home comfortable.

Homeowner John Gaddis describes his experience with The Energy Network's Home Upgrade rebate program

John says, "(Home Upgrade) was a fantastic opportunity for homeowners. With a lot of the programs that are in place now, you can get the equipment that you want in an affordable way, and also your bills go down, so it's a win-win. You're saving a lot of money."

In this segment, you will also hear from one of The Energy Network's Participating Contractors, EconoWest, who worked on John's upgrades. In order to receive a Home Upgrade rebate, all work must be performed by a Home Upgrade Participating Contractor such as EconoWest.

For more information on EconoWest, you may visit their website, or find a Participating Contractor near you at http://tenres.com/findacontractor.
Featured Project:
City of Palmdale

The City of Palmdale is currently working alongside The Energy Network to retrofit over 520 of its streetlights - including lights at about 87 intersections throughout the City. As a result of the project, the City will save over 415,000 kWh and over $35,000 per year.

To fund the project, the City is leveraging about $33,000 in utility incentives and $177,000 in On-bill Financing (OBF). OBF allows public agencies to finance energy projects with zero interest and pay back the loan as part of their utility bill over a 10-year period.

Agencies like the City of Palmdale are leading their communities by taking bold action to complete energy efficiency projects - and in turn, serving their communities with shared benefits such as improved illumination and safety, greater reliability, reduced energy costs and reduced greenhouse gas emissions - ultimately creating a healthier city.
