A Message from Tom Check, President and CEO, Healthix, Inc.
 
As we begin the second quarter of 2015, I am pleased to inform you that on April 1, the New York State Legislature authorized $45M in funding for the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (the SHIN-NY) and its nine Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs), including Healthix, in the New York State Budget for Fiscal Year 2015-16. This is great news for Healthix and it Participants and for providers and patients across New York State. Ongoing sponsorship from Governor Cuomo and the Legislature is essential for continued support for health care reform across New York State. The SHIN-NY and its regional partners are at the forefront of that reform and remain committed to serving the needs of the health care community... 

Innovative Use of Health Information Exchange on Patient-Centered Research: Healthix Presentation at HIMSS15
Session to be co- presented by Thomas F. Check, President and CEO of Healthix and Lorraine Fernandes, RHIA, Global Healthcare Industry Ambassador, IBM on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 12:00 PM CDT at HIMSS15 in Chicago. The session focuses on Healthix's role in the New York City - Clinical Data Research Network, funded by the Patient Centered Research Outcomes Institute.    

 

Irene M. Koch joins the Hospital for Special Surgery as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer 

Irene Koch, who played a leading role as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Healthix since December 2013 and was previously Executive Director of BHIX is about to embark upon a new chapter in her career. On April 13, Ms. Koch will begin her tenure as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at the Hospital for Special Surgery. "Irene has made tremendous contributions to the development of policy and the successful implementation of health information exchange in New York State. At Healthix, she led the maturing of the organization and its Participants, especially in matters of privacy and data governance, giving Healthix a firm foundation to build upon. We are deeply grateful to Irene for her leadership and guidance," said Tom Check.

Brooklyn Perinatal Network: Making a Difference  

The Brooklyn Perinatal Network, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of children, youth, parents, individuals and families by linking them to to culturally appropriate services to optimize the health of their community has recently reached a milestone in partnership with Healthix. The Brooklyn Perinatal Network has integrated their care management software, powered by Peer Place, with HIE technology to strengthen collaboration with community providers to improve care delivery for high risk childbearing age women and perinatal patients. Under the direction of Executive Director and community advocate, Ngozi Moses, the initiative draws on health IT to improve outcomes in communities with health disparities. The project is funded by a grant from the New York State Department of Health as part of Medicaid Redesign.
