Bookseller Recommendations!
Sally Recommends:
Story Of The Lost Child
by Elena Ferrante
This conclusion to the lifelong friendship of Lila and Elena which started in My Brilliant Friend is beautiful and unforgettable. Elena returns to Naples and her tumultuous relationships intensify with the city, the politics, her daughters, friends, lovers, and most especially Lila. Through turbulent times and events we see these women age together, for better and for worse. I will miss them!

Marilyn Recommends:
My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me
by Jennifer Teege and Nikola Sellmair
Imagine discovering, at the age of 38, that you are the granddaughter of the Butcher of Plaszow!  The issue of living with this heritage and being adopted are explored in this fascinating and moving memoir.  Jennifer tells her personal story, and Nikola fills in the history in alternating paragraphs.  Wonderful!

Phyllis recommends:
by Jonathan Franzen
An engrossing story about a unique cast of characters whose relationships and endeavors revolve around conflicting social dichotomies.  Franzen wrestles with the responsibility of the obscenely wealthy, the ability of any human to be completely transparent, the likelihood of any relationship to be completely equal and the overriding guilt associated with committing a crime no matter how noble the cause.  The fast moving action of this rollercoaster ride of a novel will keep you engaged from beginning to end!

Mayre recommends:
by Louise Penny
Louise Penny delivers another multilayered story filled with characters who sometimes delight and sometimes disappoint us, but always surprise us. Chief Inspector Gamache is now retired and living in the village of Three Pines.  When the body of his 9 year old neighbor is found, an investigation ensues that reveals old crimes, secrets, and new murders.  Revelations call Gamache to question much of what he believes as well as what the next chapter of his life might be.

New In The Kids Section...

We are delighted to welcome our new Children's Book Buyer, Lauren D'Alessio.  Lauren has worked at Barnes & Noble in the children's department for nine years and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and contagious enthusiasm for children's and young adult books.  We are so happy to have her here at Wellesley Books!  A few of her favorite recommendations are Loki's Wolves by K.L. Armstrong and M.A. Maar and any of the Pigeon books by Mo Willems.

There are lots of new books arriving in the Children's Section this week.  Here are a few of the best of the batch.

Appleblossom the Possum by Holly Goldberg Sloan
Fans of E.B. White, Kate DeCamillo, and Dick King-Smith will adore this heartwarming and funny animal adventure by the award-winning author of Counting by 7s.  The smallest of the litter, Appleblossom, must discover her bravery after falling down a chimney and facing the two most horrible monsters in the world - dogs and people!  Funny, charming, sweet, and beautifully written, this book is a keeper to be shared.  Holly Goldberg Sloan will be visiting us on Sept. 29th for a signing!  Details coming soon!

These stories are an extra peek at Auggie before he started at Beecher Prep and during his first year there.  Readers get to see him through the eyes of Julian, the bully; Christopher, Auggie's oldest friend; and Charlotte, Auggie's new friend at school. Together, these three stories are a treasure for readers who don t want to leave Auggie behind when they finish Wonder.  Previously only available in ebook, now these tales have been published all together--complete with an introduction from the author on how she came to write them--in a gorgeous hardcover package

Sunny Side Up by Jennifer Holm and Matthew Holm
From the groundbreaking and award-winning sister-brother team behind Babymouse comes a middle-grade, semi-autobiographical graphic novel. Following the lives of kids whose older brother's delinquent behavior has thrown their family into chaos, Sunny Side Up is at once a compelling "problem" story and a love letter to the comic books that help the protagonist make sense of her world.

Another Day by David Levithan
In this enthralling companion to his New York Times bestseller Every Day, David Levithan tells Rhiannon's side of the story as she seeks to discover the truth about love and how it can change you. Every day is the same for Rhiannon. She has accepted her life and convinced herself that she deserves her distant, temperamental boyfriend, Justin.  Until one morning everything changes. Justin seems to "see" her, to want to be with her for the first time, and they share a perfect day - a perfect day Justin doesn't remember the next morning.  A wonderful, heart-wrenching YA novel.
