Bill's Book Group for Guys Leaving the Atocha Station
by Ben Lerner
Novel or memoir?  Leaving the Atocha Station is one of a spate of recent, highly acclaimed works by young authors that are challenging the structure of traditional narrative fiction. The protagonist, a brilliant, if highly unreliable, American poet visiting Madrid on a prestigious fellowship, suspiciously mirrors the author's own experiences.  "Fresh, unpredictable, intellectually stimulating, and often quite funny,"  does Lerner's book make the case that the realistic novel has outlived its usefulness?

Join Bill's Book Group for Guys for a relaxed evening in the store discussing a great book while enjoying a beer, glass of wine, or a select single-malt whisky. $25 buys the book and a ticket to the event, including libations.

Lunchtime BookgroupBetty's Lunchtime Book GroupEuphoria
by Lily King
Come to Wellesley Books' lunchtime book group. Betty Sudarsky, unparalleled bookseller and experienced book club leader, chooses each book carefully and leads the discussion. Bring your own lunch if you like; Betty supplies snacks, drinks, and insight. No need to sign up; drop-ins are welcome.

Bookseller Recommendations

The Green Road
by Anne Enright
Their mother's threat to sell the family home pulls the four grown children of Rosaleen Madigan back to their western Ireland home for Christmas, where they must face each other and the force of her fierce love. While spinning out to such far flung places as western Africa and New York City during the 80s AIDs scare, Booker-winner Enright's latest novel possesses a spirit as wild as the primal Green Road of the title.
The Mockingbird Next Door The Mockingbird Next Door
by Marja Mills

With the much-anticipated book Go Set A Watchman arriving in July, I thought it would be interesting to familiarize myself with all things Harper Lee.  It is thoroughly enjoyable as she weaves through the life of the Lee sisters and their home town.  To Kill A Mockingbird is the book that is second only to The Bible in sales!
Sometimes an Art
by Bernard Bailyn
What will you be doing when you're 92? Bernard Bailyn, 92 years young, is still at Harvard, expanding his incomparable store of knowledge concerning North America, Great Britain, the Caribbean, and other areas of the Atlantic periphery in the early modern period. His latest book is a meaty and well-conceived collection of essays that taught me more about doing comparative history than I learned in two years of grad school.

The Fifth Heart
by Dan Simmons
When Henry James meets Sherlock Holmes, he embarks upon a great adventure, searching for the identity of the murderer of one of his beloved friends.  But Holmes may be a fictional character in James' mind, and, if he is fictional, who is this Moriarity they are chasing across America?  Full of fascinating historical detail and real historical
figures, The Fifth Heart is a terrific new meta-mystery.

Winston is a poodle mix who was born in Rhode Island, but now resides in Massachusetts.  He adores people and peanut butter.  His hobbies include watching ESPN and The Voice with his family, but his owners are currently developing his reading comprehension skills.  We believe Wellesley Books is a great place to start his education.
