  • Summer Picks Booklet
Our booksellers love nothing more than to put the right book into the right hands. Whether the reader is a fantasy fan or a lover of realistic fiction, we rise to the challenge. Each summer, we take these choice picks and put them all in one booklet, divided by grade with a short description of each book. Here are a few recommendations from the booklet:

First & Second Graders:
Space Taxi: Archie Takes Flight by Wendy Mass & Michael Brawer
It's Take Your Kid to Work Day, and Archie is excited to finally ride in his Dad's taxi. What he doesn't know is that this will not be an ordinary taxi ride. He will encounter wormholes, talking cats and the Intergalactic Security Force. Mix equal parts adventure, science and humor and you get a great read.

Third & Fourth Graders:
The Magic Trap by Jacqueline Davies
Jessie and Evan are back in the exciting 5th novel of the Lemonade War series.  This time, they will prove their toughness while dealing with a business trip, a magic show, a visit from their father and a storm.

Fifth Graders:
Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein
Twelve children earn a chance to spend a night in the newly built library.  When morning comes and the doors are still locked, they discover a new game and whoever finds an escape route will win the grand prize.

Middle School:
Primates by Jim Ottaviani, illustrated by Maris Wicks
Feel the struggles and the triumphs of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Birut Galdikas as they get closer than any other human beings to the great apes.

High School:
Swim That Rock by John Rocco & Jay Primiano
After Jake's father has gone missing at sea, he is determined to save his family's diner and avoid having to move. To raise money, he assists several local clammers but one might get him into more trouble than he would like.

Dog of the Week

  • Finn

Finn

Our dog of the week is Finn. He is a 12 week-old Mini Golden-doodle, who was born in North Carolina. He and a few siblings found homes in Massachusetts, and he is lucky enough to have a brother living across the street. Finn had a calming effect on all of us the day he visited the store. He was quite the gentleman puppy.
