The Silence of Bonaventure Arrow by Rita Leganski
You meet Bonaventure Arrow before he is even born, defined by his extraordinary sense of hearing and his unique but internal voice throughout the narrative, Bonaventure is completely silent from birth. This book has tragedy and sorrow, but there is overwhelming sense here of love and what one will do to rescue loved ones from heartbreak. Set in 1950's New Orleans and surrounding towns, the culture of hoodoo, voodoo, charms and spirits offer another magical part of this story. When the lady enters Bonaventure's world, her ability to reach beyond completes him. Sound complicated? No - it's simply rewarding.

Vampires in the Lemon Grove by Karen Russell
With vivid imagination and a magical use of words Karen Russell tells these stories which have dazzled me. The title story has me caring about an aging couple who happen to be vampires! And I can't stop thinking of the massage therapist in The New Veterans who tries to heal a veteran of his PSTD by manipulating his graphic tattoo. High school bullying takes a very dark turn in The Graveless Doll of Eric Mutis. All in all this collection is creepy, brilliant, inventive, strange and quite amazing!

The End of the Point by Elizabeth Graver
Elizabeth Graver's new novel, long overdue, is a wonderfully unfolding artichoke of a book. It is a story of a family during WWII (and beyond) told through three different sets of eyes. Affluent and advantaged, the Porter family's issues tend to be emotional -- terrain in which Graver has proven herself quite skillful. This is a book well worth reading; the only abiding question is with which character will you find yourself most sympathetic? Join Betty AND the author here at the store on Wednesday, March 13th at 7:00pm!

The Comfort of Lies by Randy Susan Meyers
Meyers' new novel begins with a lie -- an infidelity that weaves the lives of three women together and will expose the secrets that each of them hold close. The author is a born storyteller and trained liar (her words). She graced Wellesley Books with her presence and her stories last week and it was a pleasure. For anyone who loved the The Memory Keeper's Daughter, this book is perfect. If you missed this wonderful event, signed copies are available in the store now.

- Reader Tested - from our ARC reviewers
The Fourth Stall Part III by Chris Rylander Recommended by Connor, Age 11 I read The Fourth Stall: Part III and really liked it! The characters were funny and believable, the plot was interesting and suspenseful, and the action was exciting! I would recommend it to anybody who read the first two and loved them.
The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop by Kate Saunder Recommended by Kiran, Age 9 The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop by Kate Saunders is a good book that grabs the reader's attention quickly. This book is for anyone who likes mystery. The cover looked like it was for girls, but boys will love it! This book had good character description and was pretty funny. There were unexpected twists along the way and it was hard to put away, even on vacation. I highly recommend this book.
Seven Wonders: The Colossus Rises by Peter Lerangis Recommended by Gina, Age 12 Jack McKinley wakes up one morning with a patch of white hairs on the back of his head. Not normal. But when he passes out on his way to school and is taken to a strange research facility, things get stranger. Jack has a rare genetic marker that gives him power but can also kill him. The only hope for him and three other kids is to find seven magical loculi hidden in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Will Jack, Aly, Cass, and Marco succeed? This book is hilarious and will leave you hanging to the last word. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi Recommended by Olivia, Age 14 For the first time in her life, Juliette has hope. She has escaped to Omega Point, the headquarters of the resistance. All around her are people with powers, all who have managed to master them. If Juliette can learn to control her powers, which is growing increasingly hard as the temptation to use them strengthens, she could have a normal life. Then a secret changes it all. Bear is a 17 week-old Labradoodle who came in with his trainer and mom Heidi. Lorna took this adorable shot of Bear, and got to watch her do all her favorite tricks - paw, rollover, and walk on my feet. Isn't that called "Bus Ride"? Come back soon, Bear, so I can meet you in person!
