Things start warming up out at the Farm in March. Mid-month we will be planting potatoes in the Children's Garden. Kids love planting them and digging them up later. It's like finding buried treasure!
We still have openings in the No School Garden Day and Spring Break Farm Camp. The Farm is a great place to spend time when school is out! Our camps and classes offer plenty of time to just be outdoors in the fresh air and be a kid. A little rain just makes for more mud puddles to stomp in!
Chef Laura returns this month and we'll all be glad to see her! We've put our heads together and have come up with some classes for teens only, and a couple of offerings for the preschool set. Family Dinners will return this Summer, so we will have something for everyone. If you haven't taken a class with Chef Laura, you are really missing something. Just being in the Farmhouse kitchen is a delight!
VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION
On March 1st from 10a-12p we will be hosting a volunteer orientation to anyone interested in helping out with tours and field trips this spring. Please e-mail or call if you are interested or if you have questions about the program.
COMMUNITY GARDEN NEWS
This month we begin our work parties. The orientation meetings were held in January this year, so if you missed them please come to one of the first two work parties and stay a few minutes afterwards to go over the rule changes and sign your 2014 agreement. The agreement, signature page and work party schedule can be found by clicking here.
We still have plenty of seeds left over from last years donation, so if you are one of those gamblin' gardeners who like the challenge of growing plants from seed, make sure you come to the March work parties to pick up a few packets.
I will be using the Luscher Farm web page from time to time to post gardening information so please make it a habit to check it often. I will also be posting updates on farm happenings to Facebook so please "friend" the farm and "like" our page!
I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the garden!
Warm Regards,
Dawn Grunwald
