This Week's Challenge:
  • Watch the video below to discover how the TPLA intends to preserve our public lands.
  • Go to our website and learn about how we did not give up our lands at statehood, as is so often mis-represented.  Then share that link with a friend.
In the Transfer of Public Lands Act, what happens to the National Parks?

Did You Know?
Many claim that we "gave up our lands" at statehood.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Go to this webpage to learn the truth for yourself.

Greetings!

In our studies, we have come across many different maps of the United States, showing everything from Wilderness to Wildfires.  It doesn't take long to discover that maps can be a quick and easy way to show others the problems associated with the federal government's failed public land policies concerning the Western States.

Come with me on a visual lesson about the need for the Transfer of Public Lands, and a glimpse at just some of the consequences if we don't.

Our first map shows, in red, the states that struggle the most to fund education.  Many don't realize that the western states are at a severe disadvantage to funding education.
This map was sent by Al-Qaida to its followers, encouraging the use of wildfires as a form of Jihad.  See the official FBI warning here.

This map shows locations that experienced
wildfires greater than 250 acres, from 1980 to 2003.

Federal Land Map
It should be no surprise to see the correlation between the above maps and this one, which shows in red, the federally controlled lands.
Our forests used to be managed in ways that preserved a healthy density of trees.  They used to be tended like gardens, with the fruit harvested to fun our schools and communities, while at the same time, preserving beautiful, healthy forests for the use of...well...the public. Now, we can't touch a single tree on federal lands.  And rather than the healthy 40-60 trees per acre, they often exceed hundreds, even thousands per acre, fighting for limited water, becoming vulnerable to beetle infestation.  As these policies kill our forests, they become tinderboxes waiting for Al-Qaida or Mother Nature to clear-cut them by fire.

If we are to preserve our beautiful forests, educate our children, and restore our economy, we must embrace The Only Solution Big Enough.  Our federal government must change its failed policy and return to the willing Western States the public lands within their borders.  Congress must keep the promise made to us in our enabling acts, just as it did for Hawaii and all states east of Colorado.

There is no time to waste.  We must stand united and we must do it now.  Please join with us!
