Greetings!

As Kermit-the-Frog once said, "It's not easy being green."  I think America would agree.  Everyone wants to live in a land that is healthy and productive and we all want that to be passed on to our children.  But just HOW that is to be accomplished is a matter greatly debated.
It has, unfortunately, become popular to bash all types of energy production, assuming that they are all "killing the planet" or pushing some furry creature out of its bed.  But is that really true?
The Western Energy Alliance has  developed an online resource to help people understand the economic benefits generated throughout the west created by energy production.  This Western Oil & Natural Gas Employs America portal allows people to search by state, Congressional district or even county, and see the direct impact on you.
For example, did you know that in the state of Utah alone 15,151 jobs are sustained by this industry, creating over $828 MILLION in taxes?
Another concern of this industry is the rampant misconceptions being spread about what the Oil and Natural Gas industry does and how they do it.  Having a vibrant, healthy energy production and a vibrant, healthy environment are not mutually exclusive.  Sensational claims use fear to get people to oppose practices that in reality, they know very little about.
The recent documentary, "FrackNation" goes a long way toward dispelling the myths around fracking and its effects on the environment.

This week, we hope you will take the time to:

  • Investigate your county and state, and discover for yourself how crucial energy production is to your economic well-being, as well as your standard of life.
  • Watch the above video clips from the movie, "FrackNation".
  • If possible, get ahold of the entire "FrackNation" documentary and watch it with a few friends.  Make the evening complete with some popcorn and you'll have a very entertaining and educational night out.
As we said last week, don't be fooled by catchy, fear-inducing headlines or soundbites.  Take the few minutes it takes to discover the truth for yourself.  Investigate.  Ask questions.  It will pay off in understanding and the courage to stand up with the knowledge of truth.
