Greetings!
Good morning! Guess who. Yep. It's me, Becky Ivory once again. We have now spent a month looking more closely at the Six Simple Steps that can help you focus on leveraging your power within your community and help to bring about the Transfer of Public Lands Act in your state. Today, we'll cover Step Six, which will focus on a subject that will make your mother and grandmother proud...GRATITUDE. |
Step Six
Being an elected official is H-A-R-D. I truly believe that only those in the position will ever appreciate the long days, the sleepless nights, the little pay, the media distortion and the largely thankless efforts that go into a life of public service.
Our public servants are striving to do what is right for our communities. It is important that your communications with them be nothing but polite and kind regardless of any differences of opinion. It is important that we educate others, but that we do so with patience and courtesy. And when our public officials make tough decisions that defend our sovereignty and our unalienable rights, we must lend them our courage. We must let them know that we have their back...that we will not retreat when such decisions make it necessary for us to make adjustments in our own lives. We must tell them that it is OK to do what is best for the people as a whole and that we will support them as they do the tough lifting.
This is why the American Lands Council stresses sending a Thank You Card to your local, state and federal officials as they stand up for us and our children's future in securing to the Western States the same promise that was made and kept with all states east of Colorado. Though our example is directed towards the Governor of Utah, we urge you to make your own version for your officials and please share it with us.
