Where We've Been

January has been a very busy month for the American Lands Council as the metaphorical "ball" has picked up great speed, rolling through the Western States with increased speed and influence.  We get new memberships almost daily from both counties and individuals.  The number of resolutions supporting the American Lands Council directly, or the passage of a Transfer of Pubic Lands Act, is rapidly increasing.  More and more people are willing to stand up and be counted as being among those who believe in our Constitutional Rights.  More counties are asking for presentations to further educate themselves and those within their influence.  We've never been busier, or happier!

States Band Together

You may not be aware that there are multiple states right now working on legislation to hold the federal government to their promises given at each states' creation.  Representative Yvette Herrell of New Mexico presented a Transfer of Public Lands Act (TPLA) bill into the NM House this week.  Idaho's Speaker of the House, Scott Bedke, is supporting his colleagues' interest in exploring an Idaho version of the Utah TPLA. Nevada is creating an interim committee to work out all the questions of such a bill for Nevada.  The Public Lands issue affects everyone in the West and people are beginning to understand that states are sovereign entities and it is time they start to act like it.
Support
Your Influence

You, as an official member of the American Lands Council, are spreading hope and courage throughout the West.  Many people agree with the Transfer of Public Lands Act, but have been afraid to stand up for fear of standing alone.  No one person, no one county, no one state is going to get the federal government to keep its promises by themselves.  Power comes in numbers.  Courage grows in numbers.  When we realize we will not stand alone, it is much easier to stand.
By being some of the very first people, or the first counties, to join the ALC, you have given courage to others.  We now have 17 counties throughout UT, ID, NV and NM, as well as many more in the process of joining.  We have many individual members such as commissioners, sheriffs and people from all walks of life who all share one commonality:  we believe in the sovereignty of the States and believe in standing up for the well-being of those states.
If you didn't get a chance last month, take a few minutes and write to your county, state and national representatives and encourage them to support the passing of a Transfer of Public Lands Act in your state, or a Resolution of Support for the transfer of Public Lands in the Western States.
Your voice of courage and support to your representatives DOES make all the difference.  You are proving it every day.  DO NOT underestimate the power of your voice.
Thank you for your support!
