North Central Michigan College's 19th annual Look Out for The Cookout is Sunday, September 11th
from noon to 3:00 p.m. on the Petoskey campus.
Enjoy a picnic-style lunch of pulled pork, hot dogs, corn on the cob, marinated bean salad, quinoa salad and cookie bars. A Kidz Zone in the gym with four bouncy houses, carnival games and other activities. There will also be a big screen with the football game for parents. Outside, enjoy human sim-man demonstrations and tours of the Fab Lab and more. There will also be a gift basket raffle. Ticket prices are $8 per person.  Children five and under eat free. North Central Michigan College, the Char-Em ISD, Northern Michigan Human Services Agency and other community early care and education programs will present the Early Childhood Windows of Opportunity Conference, Friday, October 7th
from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The conference will be held on North Central's Petoskey campus. The cost is $35 until September 23, then $50. Online registration through the Char-Em ISD is required for this conference. Citizens Academy Seeking Applicants. The Petoskey Department of Public Safety is inviting area residents to participate in its annual Citizen Academy.  The program is a 24-hour block of instruction designed to give the community a better working knowledge of the Public Safety Department's operations, policies, and procedures.  The academy consists of eight, three-hour sessions that run from Sept. through Nov.  There is no fee to participate, but you must complete an application.  Applications can be accessed at Petoskey City Hall, 101 E. Lake St., or at www.petoskey.us.   

The Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) is seeking Tribute award nominations to honor extraordinary women, female students and men in northern Michigan for their personal accomplishments, commitment to strengthening the community and improving the lives of those who live here.
  Honorees are determined by a selection committee comprised of community members.  Nominations from community members must be received by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016.  The Tribute awards reception will be held at Stafford's Perry Hotel in Petoskey 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016.
