Have you seen it? When driving past 1038 Bay View Avenue, the western wall of Sight & Sound Music building adjacent to Kilwin's, you may notice something beautiful is happening. This wonderful mural taking shape is thanks to Abby Kent, large scale resident artist and the Crooked Tree Arts Center Mural Project class for kids. Students have learned the nuts and bolts of a mural; owner approval, zoning approval, public reaction, safety procedures, designing for communities, designing for sites, tools, patterning, proper paint disposal, and a number of painting techniques, rarely learned in school. The image of the mural was designed to include Victorian framing elements with respect to Bayview, and is a stylized version of an indigenous species. The project is hoped to be completed today. Find out more about Abby Kent here. Tickets are on sale for the 16th Annual Cash Raffle, a fundraiser for Friendship Could YOU handle it? Attend this interactive simulation and find out!
