Nicole was employed by Citizens National Bank while earning her bachelor's degree in accounting from Lake Superior State University in 2004. Nicole was hired full time in 2005 as a credit analyst, before being promoted to banking officer-commercial loans and in 2014 she was promoted to assistant vice president-commercial loans. Michelle M. Miller has been promoted from assistant branch manager to banking officer and branch manager of the Indian River branch. Michelle joined the bank in 2003 as a teller, assumed the duties of a full time customer service representative in 2008 and in 2012 she was promoted to branch operations supervisor. The Women's Club Annual Art Fair at Nub's Bob in Harbor Springs is on Wednesday July 13th from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This popular event that draws more than 100 artists from as far away as Florida and California. North Central Michigan College and the Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District are pleased to offer a new career-focused, three-day career academy, Tuesday - Thursday, August 16-18 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The academy gives students an opportunity to explore manufacturing technologies as a career pathway, participate in tours of local manufacturers, plan a project and produce personalized products in North Central's stationary lab and state-of-the-art mobile digital fabrication lab, the Fab Lab. The academy is for students in grades 8-11 this fall who are interested in learning manufacturing and digital fabrication skills. The cost is $60 which includes a T-shirt and take home project. With a wonderful group of three dozen volunteers that enjoy helping kids, Char-Em United Way (CEUW) was able to promote literacy and a love of reading among area children for the 9th Annual United Way Day of Action on June 21st. Thirteen area libraries, bookstores and daycare centers hosted the volunteers who read stories, recited some poems, did a short financial literacy activity and distributed nearly 300 literacy kits. The kits were sponsored this year by the Depend brand and had a financial literacy theme. More than 300 people were in attendance on Saturday, July 2 for the official groundbreaking for the Great Lakes Center for the Arts, along the shores of Little Traverse Bay in the resort community of Bay Harbor in Petoskey. Those in attendance included Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, along with many of the Center's donors, supporters, local legislators, business owners and the general public. Pure Michigan's newest cultural arts facility will break ground on a 500 seat state-of-the-art theater. The Great Lakes Center for the Arts, will also offer a community engagement room, rooftop terrace, donor lounge and more, to be completed in 2018 with limitless opportunities to inspire, entertain, and educate.
