To help build business relationships, you need to be in the right places to meet members of the business community. The Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours is the right place to be each month. An average of 100 - 125 chamber member attend each event for networking opportunities, along with hors d'oeuvres, cash-bar refreshments and door prizes.Admission cost is $7 for members; $12 for not-yet members.

Save the Date for the Next Thriving Petoskey Seminar on June 14th
It is time to take the next step in the Thriving Petoskey initiative on Tuesday June 14th. Nathan Havey returns to Petoskey to share the message of Conscious Capitalism with, How to Grow Your Business While Changing the World - The Next Step, and will explain how this innovative business philosophy is helping businesses grow their workforce and increase their profits while improving the human condition in their communities.  Joining Nathan on stage will be Michael McFall, President of Biggby Coffee who will share Biggby's story of how they are integrating Conscious Capitalism into their organization.

This seminar will take place at the Iron Horse Café, North Central Michigan College on Tuesday June 14. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., for General Networking and Light refreshments. Connecting Women in Business June 28 Luncheon Focuses on Woman's Health! 
Register today for this health-themed luncheon.  Northern Michigan Sports Medicine will be presenting  "A focus on woman's health in our busy world...  yes that means the focus is on you!"
 
Taking time to take care of yourself when you are a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and employee is usually the last thing on our minds.  The catch is if we keep putting ourselves last, eventually we won't be able to fill all those other roles that always come first.  Let's take time to talk about how health care has changed in regards to being a women over the years, what to look out for and how to take care of ourselves, with some helpful resources.

The Cost to attend is $15 for CWIB members and $20 for all others. Advanced registration is required. Please register online here. Register and pay by credit card.  Registration and networking begin on June 28 at 11:30 a.m. The lunch and presentation will begin at noon and end at 1 p.m.  The luncheon will be at the Library Conference Center of NCMC.

The lunch will be a Leaf Lettuce with Summer Berries, Walnuts, Feta Cheese, Bacon, and Red Onion.  It will be served with sliced chicken breast on the side, Rolls and Butter, and a Zesty Quinoa Salad.

Lawmakers Spend Time With Your Chamber
The Government Relations Committee of the Petoskey Regional and Charlevoix Area Chambers of Commerce had a busy week last week.  Six committee members joined staff members Carlin Smith, Alison Hubbard and Kent Wood in Lansing where they hosted a reception for the staffs of our senator and representatives and then hosted a breakfast with our lawmakers the following morning.  The committee was honored to have Senator Wayne Schmidt, and Representatives Lee Chatfield and Tristan Cole at the breakfast conversation.  The committee members who attended include:  Ken Winter, John Stakoe, Craig Simmons, Barbara Rykwalder, Chelsea Townsend-Platte and Jean Musilek. 


On Friday, the committee hosted a roundtable conversation with Senator Schmidt at Petoskey City Hall.  The conversation included representatives from local government, environment, tourism, and health care.  Conversation topics included the state budget, DDA and Historic Preservation bills, energy policy, workforce housing, and septic system regulations.
Volunteers Are Needed! Be a Part of the Festival on the Bay Team!
The Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to fill some key leadership positions with Festival on the Bay.  Each of these positions include participation on the Festival's Executive Team.  Festival Executive Team members wear cool shirts, play a decision-making role with the festival, and get the chance to immerse themselves in this great community event.  Volunteers walk away with extensive event-planning and strategic experience.  They report to Festival Coordinator Johnnie Walker and the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce Staff.
