The PRCC is excited to welcome Alexis Denoyer to the Chamber Staff. Alexis is no stranger to the Chamber staff, as she worked in the office last summer, and we are excited she is able to return in a permanent position as our new 
Administrative Assistant. 

Alexis will be handling Guest Services in addition to her Administrative duties and can be reached at alexis@petoskeychamber.com.

Alexis is a recent graduate of Central Michigan University and grew up in Petoskey. Be sure to stop in and say hello!

CWIB is Next Tuesday, May 24 - Are You Registered?
Summer Book Preview by Valerie Meyerson of Petoskey District Library. Val will discuss some of the books that need to be in your beach bag this summer and can't be missed. Register today.

The luncheon will be at Stafford's Bay View Inn. The lunch will be a Cobb Salad - Mixed greens, chopped bacon, tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, hard-boiled egg, and diced chicken served with house made blue cheese dressing. Dessert will be Key Lime Pie.

The Cost to attend is $15 for CWIB members and $20 for all others. Register online and pre-pay by credit card so you can avoid lines at registration. Or you can pay by cash or check at the door. May 25 Hot Topics - Are You Prepared for the Revised Overtime Exemption Rule?

The Department of Labor has forwarded the final overtime exemption rule to the Office of Management and Budget for final review.  It will be published, most likely in the next month or so, and will take effect 60 days after publication. 

The proposed rule contains very significant revisions to the exemption rules and will affect millions of employees currently classified as exempt.  These employees will become eligible for overtime, significantly impacting many employers budgets.
 
Please join local labor and employment attorney,  Laura Dinon, of Plunkett Cooney, for this May 25 seminar as she provides in-depth analysis of the proposed new FLSA overtime regulation provisions and practical tips on how to prepare for the changes.  In addition, she will discuss the recent changes to the Independent Contractor classification.

The seminar takes place in the Reycraft Room of Stafford's Perry Hotel.  Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8 a.m. The seminar takes place from 8:30 am - 10:00 am. Volunteers Are Needed! Be a Part of the Festival on the Bay Team!
The Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to fill some key leadership positions with Festival on the Bay.  Each of these positions include participation on the Festival's Executive Team.  Festival Executive Team members wear cool shirts, play a decision-making role with the festival, and get the chance to immerse themselves in this great community event.  Volunteers walk away with extensive event-planning and strategic experience.  They report to Festival Coordinator Johnnie Walker and the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce Staff.
