Movers and Shakers
The residents and visitors to Walloon Lake have a new snowmobile trail that ties into the larger trail system in Northern Lower Michigan.  The new trail cuts east to US-131, then connects to the existing Petoskey trail system. From Walloon Lake, snowmobilers can now reach as far North as Mackinaw City, and as far South as Grand Rapids. The trail includes a newly constructed 20 foot bridge that crosses the Bear River as well as other roadway improvements.
The Local business owners are considering this a great boost to the accessibility to the Village, which includes a fueling station for snowmobiles as well as three restaurants, retail businesses, general store and a hotel.  These businesses are especially thankful to the local land owners, township, road commission, DNR, and State Representative Triston Cole for making the trail project become a reality.
