High School Robotics team to offer hour of code. "Hour of Code" is a global movement taking place this week to give people a brief introduction to computer science and to help demystify the writing of code and show that anybody can learn the basics. The Petoskey High School Robotics team, the Petoskey Paladins, will be hosting eight sessions of the Hour of Code this Saturday, December 12th as part of the Northwest Michigan Robotics Conference. The sessions of Hour of Code are free and open to the public and will be held at Petoskey High School. Two sessions will run at 9:15, 11:00, 1:15, and 3:00 in rooms 193 and 194.

Wreaths Across America Ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery will be held on December 12th and will begin at 11:45 AM Sharp! Catch a falling star during the Geminids at the Headlands! One of the most prolific meteor showers of the year takes place in December, and Headlands staff will host two programs back-to-back to share the show with visitors. North Central Michigan College has coordinated with Harbor Springs Police and Fire departments, Emmet County EMS, CCE Dispatch and other agencies to facilitate an actual life-saving training scenario on Thursday, December 17th at Meyer ACE Hardware, 1030 State Road in Harbor Springs. METIman, North Central's simulator or sim-man, will be at the store from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for demonstrations and public education on cardiac health and public response to emergencies. The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to end the year with real meaning by donating blood for hospital patients in need. Holiday activities, severe weather and seasonal illnesses, like the flu, can pull people away from their regular blood donation schedules. This creates a greater need for blood donations this time of year.
