"I Belong" Celebrating Chamber of Commerce Month

Do you Belong? October is Chamber of Commerce Month! Watch all month long for testimonials from chamber members as to why they belong. October is Chamber of Commerce Month in Michigan and the chamber is using this month to feature the "I Belong" campaign and we invite all members to participate.
You can wear an "I Belong" button all month long to help show you belong to the chamber and help spread awareness of the chamber's work. Feel free to stop by the office to grab buttons or we would be happy to drop some off to you. In addition, you can let us take your picture with the "I Belong" sign and tell why you belong to the chamber and we will feature it in the weekly e-mails and on Facebook.
We are also conducting a membership drive in October. Do you know someone who is not yet a member of the chamber? Invite them to join. Business After Hours is November 19th at Northern Lights Recreation

Join us at Northern Lights Recreation on Thursday November 19th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. This months BAH will be combined with the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and will be a Construction Theme event.
Admission cost is $7 for members; $12 for not-yet members. Business After Hours (BAH) is a well-attended "end-of-the-work-day" networking event designed to help participants make new business contacts, develop potential new customers, and build exposure for their businesses. In addition to great networking opportunities, along with hors d'oeuvres, cash-bar refreshments you can win fabulous door prizes as well!

Connecting Women In Business

Connecting Women in Business November 17 Program - Marketing for the Visual Web - presented by Marcie Wolf of Abuzz Creative and Rachel Smolinski of Harbor Inc.
The Visual Web is a social media phenomenon driven by the increased use of mobile phones and the popularity of photo-sharing websites. Instagram and Pinterest are the social sites most closely associated with the Visual Web, and Facebook can fall into this category as well. Learn how you should be marketing yourself to capture the popularity of the Visual Web.
We will access the Visual Web with mobile apps on smartphones and tablets so, to get the most out of this session, please have the following apps installed and have your accounts set up: A Facebook Page (business page, not a personal page), Instagram, and Pinterest.
The luncheon is at North Central Michigan College Library Conference Room.
Registration and networking begin at 11:30 am. The luncheon and presentation will begin at noon and end at 1 pm. Cost is $15 for CWIB members or $20 for others.

Go Grants, Fall Launch - Now taking Applications for Spring Programs!

Connecting Women in Business (CWIB), a niche group of the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce the fall launch of its GO Grants for Girls on October 12, 2015. Since the launch in 2010, over 100 girls have been provided go grants in excess of $40,000.
The purpose of the grants is to provide small grants to girls in grades 6 to 10 in the Char-Em ISD service area of Charlevoix, Emmet and northern Antrim counties. These grants will allow the girl to pursue a special interest gain or improve a skill, participate in an outdoor experience and more. Grants will range from $100 to $500. Application and full details can be found on the chamber website. Applications must be postmarked is December 1, 2015.

Athena Nominations Now Being Accepted

We are now seeking nominations for the 2015 Athena Award, which will be presented at this year's Breakfast for Champions on December 8, 2015 at Odawa Casino. The Athena Award recognizes a community member for their impact on the growth and success of girls and women in our region.
