Greenwood Foundation Fall Hike is Saturday, September 26th from 10:00 a.m. - Noon located just east of Wolverine. A popular favorite this time of year! At nearly 2,000 acres, Greenwood is one of the largest private properties in Little Traverse Conservancy's service area now protected with a conservation easement. The Little Traverse Historical Society's historic home tour is Saturday, September 26th from 1 to 4 in the afternoon. Ticket holders should convene at the History Museum at 1 pm for tour information and directions. Participants on the self-guided tour will tour five historic homes and the Carnegie Building. This year's Harvest Moon arrives under the spell of Earth's shadow and will appear totally eclipsed everywhere east of the Rocky Mountains, including at the Headlands International Dark Sky Park in Mackinaw City. Join Headlands staff under the night sky starting Sunday evening, Sept. 27th through total eclipse phase and into the early hours of Monday, Sept. 28, as the eclipse completes. Calling all Kids (Young and Old) - The fantastic story of Peter and the Wolf, told by Sheridan School Principal, Patrick Bevier, and the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, will be presented on October 10th at 2 p.m. at the John M. Hall Auditorium at Bay View. Hear about Peter's adventures in the woods and how the hunters deal with the wolf and save Peter. Ping Pong 4 OCD Ping Pong Tournament to raise awareness about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in Northern Michigan will take place on Saturday October 10th at Central Elementary School in Petoskey from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. This year will the 5th Annual Tournament, and we will partner with The Petoskey Community Tennis Courts Organization to help raise funds for the Petoskey High School Tennis Courts. Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteer support for the 2015 Northern Michigan NKBA Kitchen Tour, which benefits Habitat. Hospice of Northwest Michigan's grief support program provides support and education to people who are grieving the loss of a loved one - a spouse, parent, child, sibling, relative, friend or companion. Meetings are led by David Behling an experienced grief counselor and support group facilitator; this support program includes discussions of specific topics, and provides optional personal sharing opportunities in a safe and accepted atmosphere. Our next five week session begins October 1 and meets every Thursday thru October 29. Meet in the community room of First Baptist church located at 06781 M66 in Charlevoix from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
Calling all athletes ages 5-18 to join the Stingray Swim Team at the Charlevoix Area Community Pool! We are a USA swimming sanctioned team with ASCA certified swim coaches. Fall Exhibits Open! Petoskey's fall exhibitions are now on display and running through Saturday, November 21st. The 35th Annual Juried Fine Arts Exhibition, CTAC's fall display showcasing the work of artists from across the state of Michigan. On display in the Edith Gilbert Gallery are fifteen quilts from the Little Traverse Bay Quilters Guild (LTBQG). The LTBQG was founded in 1986 and currently boasts 149 members. Both displays will be open for public viewing during CTAC's regular business hours until the week before Thanksgiving. All exhibits are free and open to the public. Although October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, breast cancer prevention and survivorship is a year-round priority. By partnering with the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation, your support will have a far-reaching effect on women in your community who are unable to afford a life-saving mammogram, require further diagnostic testing or who are currently in their fight against breast cancer. This year, our goal is to raise $12,000 in support of the Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund in one of two ways: Blue Jean Day, Friday, October 23rd Employees purchase a sticker for $5. Tim Bondy Physical Therapy announces the reopening of the Alanson-Conway clinic located at 1171 W. Conway Road. The clinic was originally opened in 2000 and closed as part of a restructuring plan at the end of 2013. It is now open for full therapy services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, orthopaedic manual therapy, hand therapy as well as adult fitness classes and memberships. The hours of the clinic are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment. Physical therapy is now available without a physician referral thanks to a January 2015 legislative act that made Michigan the 48th state with direct physical therapy access. Char-Em United Way Day of Caring Gives Back! The 12th Annual Day of Caring connected over 500 volunteers in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties to dozens of service projects with local non-profit community agencies, the elderly community, cities and counties. Held on the National Day of Service and Remembrance on 9/11, this Char-Em United Way event promotes community volunteerism and gives people the opportunity to give back while making a difference and working together. Day of Caring matches teams of volunteers from businesses, schools, faith communities, and community groups with non-profit organizations and seniors in need of hands-on help.

The $20M Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) is available to assist businesses in filling critical talent needs and to provide individuals with the skills needed for in-demand jobs.
