| MDOT Construction on US-31 South Moving Along Well |
Construction continues along US-31. The Contractor is on schedule and the entire north side of US-31 was paved up to the intermediate asphalt course, between Eppler Road and US-131. Last week, westbound traffic was shifted to the north side of US-31. The top asphalt layer will be paved all at once (Prior to the 4th of July), when the south side of US-31, in this section, is complete. Over the next two weeks you can expect to see lots of underground utility and dirt work on the south side of US-31 in this section.
For the Memorial Day Weekend, construction will cease at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, but resume at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday after Memorial Day. During the Memorial Day weekend, eastbound US-31 traffic will still be detoured and only one lane of westbound US-31 traffic will be maintained.
On, the section of US-31, from Camp Daggett to Eppler Road, the Contractor is ahead of schedule. Early indications are that this section of the roadway may start to see pavement within the next few weeks, but the primary goal is to finish up the eastern part of the project first.
