Camp Daggett offers great activities for families this winter. On January 31st and February 28th from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., experience the solitude of the wilderness as you snowshoe by torchlight at Camp Daggett. Bearcub Outfitters of Petoskey has once again graciously sponsored this family-fun event. Afterward, come in from the cold for a cup of hot chocolate, freshly baked cookies and to warm-up by the crackling fire in camp's beautiful main lodge. Buy raffle tickets for a chance to win great Bearcub products with all proceeds going to Camp Daggett. Admission is free, donations are encouraged, and snowshoes are available for all ages!

Are you ready for golf season! Physical therapists from Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center (NMSMC) will host a free Golf Biomechanic & Injury Clinic on Tuesday, February 3rd from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at Shotmakers Golf Center in Alanson, MI. NMSMC has put together a team of sports medicine experts and golf professionals to provide one-on-one assessment of each golfer. This clinic is limited to 12 participates and you must register to reserve your one-on-one assessment time. Each participate will move through three stations of evaluation. Please call Shotmakers at 348-2072 to register. The evening will end with a "Longest Drive" Challenge utilizing the indoor golf simulator. The challenge will be to out drive Dr. Todd Sheperd. A cash prize will be awarded.
B.C Pizza in Alanson is hosting a fundraiser on February 3rd for the Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. They will be offering only Large Pepperoni Pizza's for just $4.50 including tax. Boy Scouts Offer Pancake Supper. Troop 5 of Petoskey is hosting a Pancake Supper on Wed. Feb. 11th, 5-7 p.m. at the Petoskey United Methodist Church. Black History Month Presentation with Dr. Andre Fields, noted psychologist and advocate for diversity, at North Central Michigan College on Wednesday, February 11th, as part of the College's Black History Month programs. The lecture will be at noon in the cafeteria on the Petoskey campus. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The cost for the optional lunch is $10 per person. Petoskey Rotary is hosting their annual Spaghetti Dinner Feb. 12th. Children and adults alike will be asking for more spaghetti at the Rotary Club of Petoskey's annual spaghetti dinner on Thursday, Feb. 12th, at Petoskey High School. The meal is served from 5-7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 4-12, and free for children under 4. The all-you-can-eat meal includes spaghetti, coleslaw, rolls, beverages, and ice cream. Carry out meals are available. Funds from the 63rd Annual Spaghetti Dinner help the Rotary Club of Petoskey support numerous programs in the community and worldwide. The Blissfest Music Organization invites artists to submit designs to be considered for the 35th annual Blissfest Music Festival logo before the deadline of Feb 15th. Submissions must be original artwork and of a size easily scalable for a variety of uses including T-shirts and posters. The word "Blissfest" must be prominent in the design as well as the year "2015" and/or "35th Annual". We are looking for designs that are distinctive and imaginative that project the Blissfest theme. The 10th annual Northmen Night will be held on February 21st, from 6 - 10 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. This year's theme is "Show your Colors" Tailgate party! Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite team's spirit colors. The evening will be highlighted with games, and will include a live and silent auction, cash bar, and buffet dinner, all in support of Northmen Athletics. All proceeds go to the general athletic department fund - supporting all sports at the middle and high school levels. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. Camp Daggett offers winter activities Father, stepfathers, grandfathers or big brothers are invited to bring their sons (ages 8-16) for a fun filled Father/Son weekend, March 13th-15th at Camp Daggett. Veterans at North Central Michigan College will be better able to transition from military to college life and connect with available benefits, state and local resources and one-on-one support thanks to an innovative program launched by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) and the Michigan College Access Network. The program, known as the Michigan Veteran Education Initiative, places a veteran resource representative (VRR) on college campuses throughout Michigan, where they will work to ensure student veterans and their dependents succeed as they pursue an education. Raven Hill Discovery Center's Ham Radio Station is up and running. With help from members of the Top Of Michigan Amateur Radio Club (TOMARC) in Gaylord, the station is operational and the first class of technicians has received their ham radio licenses. Recently, local electric company, Great Lakes Energy, came to the station's rescue, when sliding snow ripped the new ham radio antenna off the Center's roof. A Great Lakes crew came out and set a utility pole for Raven Hill to use as a freestanding antenna.
