Dave Kring Chevrolet - Cadillac helps serve over 2,000 Meals in 2014!
Dave Kring Chevrolet -Cadillac donated over 575 pounds of beef and pork to the Manna Food Project to help local food pantries feed families in need. All the meat was purchased by Dave Kring Chevrolet -Cadillac from local 4-H students at this year's Livestock Auction that was held at the Emmet/Charlevoix Fair in August. Pictured (left to right) Jeff Kring, Matt Kring, Ruth Milks manager of Manna Pantry and the "Food 4 Kids" Backpack program, Dave Kring, Gabrielle Billion Associate Director of Manna, Betty Jane Johnson from the First Christian Church Pantry and Michael Walker from the Nehemiah House. Donated meat was also given to the Woman's Resource Center of Northern Michigan and Brother Dan's Food Pantry in Petoskey. This annual donation follows a tradition that was began by the former Chevrolet-Cadillac dealer, Budd Tallberg who helped in establishing the Manna Food Pantry over 25 years ago.

N.A.S.A. Workshops Scheduled at Raven Hill. Susan Kohler, N.A.S.A. Education Professional Development Specialist for Glenn Research Center in Cleveland Ohio, will be presenting two workshops at Raven Hill Discovery Center on November 6th and 7th. Participating educators will be able to use what they have learned at this workshop to engage their students in problem-based learning, solving STEM challenges using inquiry based science activities from N.A.S.A. curriculum guides. Both workshops will run from 9 am to 3 pm. There is no cost for either workshop, SCECHs will be offered pending approval and lunch will be provided. Camp Daggett Adventure Center will offer an Adventure Education/Challenge Course Training Workshop on Thursday and Friday, November 20-21 at Camp Daggett's indoor center on Walloon Lake from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day. This workshop is designed to give the participant a hands-on experience in adventure education and utilization of a challenge ropes course. Anyone working with young people will be given ideas and activities that can be taken back to the workplace and used with minimal props and expense. The Zonta Club of Petoskey Area is presently accepting small grant applications for their 2014/15 fiscal year. $10,000.00 is available and will be distributed in February, 2015, for one or more projects. Veteran's $11-11 Campaign. The Emmet Association of Realtors is conducting their 3rd annual "11-11" fund raiser until November 11thon Veteran's Day, donations are presented to Jim Alton, Director, Emmet County Veterans Affairs. Ebola Preparedness at McLaren Northern Michigan. While the chance of a patient with Ebola presenting to the McLaren Northern Michigan Emergency Department (ED) is very small, we are taking immediate measures to prepare for such a situation in our facility to protect our patients, visitors, staff, and the community at large. ED patients and patients admitted to our facility are being screened for travel history, a practice that was instituted several weeks ago. Further, a team dedicated to Ebola preparedness is meeting daily to revise protocols based on the rapidly evolving Ebola situation.
