Meet & Greet The Artists at Stafford's Gallery: Lynda Marnon & Mary Paquette Friday, August 15, 4 to 7 p.m. Lynda Marnon is a paper mache artist and Mary Paquette creates one-of-a-kind custom jewelry. Two Great Performances in Bay View this Weekend! Friday, August 15 at 7:30 p.m. Children's Ballet Theatre of Michigan (CBT)CBT is a premiere audition-based company comprised of 51 dancers ages 8-18 from the Lansing area. They perform The Nutcracker Ballet yearly at the Michigan State University Wharton Center for Performing Arts at Thanksgiving and every spring at Holt High School.Tickets $5 - Hall Auditorium Box Office one hour prior to the performance.Sunday, August 17 at 3:30 p.m. United States Air Force Band of Mid-America Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble. The Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble is an 18-piece big band with a diverse repertoire of traditional swing, bebop, modern jazz, vocal selections, and the music of this great nation. FREE Admission!
Char-Em United Way and Walmart in Petoskey will host a school supply drive on Saturday, Aug. 16th. A school bus will be at Walmart in Petoskey, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the community to fill with school supplies for local children in need. A bus will also be at K-Mart in Charlevoix. In addition, Char-Em United Way (CEUW) will have a table in the children's section at Festival on the Bay on Saturday with games and prizes. School supplies can be dropped off at any of the three event locations.

Auditions for Dracula are coming soon! Little Traverse Civic Theatre is holding auditions for their upcoming Fall Production of Dracula at 7:00 p.m. on both August 19th and 21st at Crooked Tree Arts Center. The cast will be compromised of 6 males and 2 females with Performances to take place October 16th-19th and 24th - 26th. Tickets are on sale for the 14th Annual Cash Raffle, a fundraiser for Friendship Centers of Emmet County, Council on Aging. Ten cash prizes, including a $10,000 grand prize, will be awarded at the Cash Raffle Party on Friday, September 5 at the Fairgrounds Community Center. The final early bird drawing is August 20. Fox Charlevoix is hosting a state-wide food drive in conjunction with Feeding America from August 7th through August 23rd, 2014. All proceeds from the food drive go to the West Michigan Food Bank to serve our local food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters. Please stop by either of our Charlevoix showrooms to donate a non-perishable food item or to make a monetary donation. In addition, we will be having a Grand Opening Sale & Party to celebrate our new GM and Chrysler showroom renovations, as well as our Body Shop and showroom remodel at Ford! The sale and celebration will be held later this month, stay tuned to our website for more details.
Friends at the Carnegie Speaker Series presents Michael Cromley and WOLVES IN MICHIGAN on Monday, August 25, at 7:00 p.m. in the Carnegie Bldg. Cromley's talk with cover the history of wolves in North America, last wolves in MI, migration, hunting, the DNR's responsibility, methods for protecting livestock and pets and more. Anyone planning to apply for the nursing or allied health programs is strongly encouraged to attend one of these informational sessions. The Charlevoix Area Community Pool announces the Great Lake Challenge! We invite all swimmers to stroke their way across the 5 Great Lakes by next summer - June 20th, 2015. Every 200 yards swam, or 10 lengths of our Pool, is equal to 1 mile across a Great Lake. The first lake to cross is Lake Ontario. At almost 200 miles long, you will need to swim 200 Pool lengths before you begin your trek across the next Great Lake. Pool staff will track your progress. No successfully completed challenge goes unrewarded! Great and FUN way to keep in shape, train for a triathlon, or improve your strokes. So grab a friend and take on the GREAT LAKES CHALLENGE! The Manna Food Project will receive donations through a customer driven program called Meijer "Simply Give". The fall campaign runs from August 3 - September 27. Donations are made by purchasing a $10 donation card when making a purchase at Petoskey Meijer. Meijer matches that donation with $10. Cards are available at Petoskey Meijer and Manna Food Project. At the end of each campaign Manna will receive Meijer gift cards to buy food. Manna shares the gift cards with partner agencies in Antrim, Emmet and Charlevoix Counties and to support the "Food 4 Kids" Backpack Program. Meijer will host "double match" days on September 4-6. These two days, $10 in customer donations will result in a $20 additional donation from Meijer!
