Don't miss the Kilwin's Fudge Bucket Classic Vintage Baseball Tournament on Saturday August 2nd featuring the Petoskey Mossbacks, Saginaw Old Gold, Kent Base Ball Club and Wyandotte Stars. Games take place at Bay View at 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. and at the Winter Sports Park at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. Admission is FREE! You supply the lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic lunch and we supply the fun!

The public is invited to see Logan the "super sniffer" and his trainer in action during a free demonstration on Monday, August 4th at 4:00 p.m. in Pennsylvania Park, next to the Watershed Council office, in Petoskey and again on Tuesday, August 5th at 4:00 p.m. in East Park in Charlevoix. Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, in partnership with the City of Petoskey and the City of Charlevoix, were recently awarded grants from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation and the Charlevoix County Community Foundation to bring Logan, the sewage sniffing dog to Northern Michigan. The event will include a meet and greet with Logan, followed by a presentation, demonstration and question-and-answer session. The team of dental professionals at Beacon Dental Center will be hosting their fourth annual Dentistry from the Heart (DFTH) event on Friday, August 8th. This DFTH event will donate thousands of dollars in free dental care and provide much needed relief to people in need in our community. The line will begin early into the night before, with hundreds prepared to camp out in order to receive free services. Patients are seen on a first come, first serve basis. Event registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. We encourage patients to dress appropriate for the weather as the waiting area is outside. Up North Trails is a new, interactive website that will be the go-to source of information about northern Michigan's vast network of trails and points of interest. It allows users to interact with and explore more than 5,300 miles of trails across the Northern Lower Peninsula. The site encourages outdoor enthusiasts to select trails based on usage and/or location, and a host of additional features allow them to learn more about hundreds of individual trail systems and segments across the state. The site also was built with mobile users in mind, and is fully functional on tablets, mobile phones and other devices. The Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) is seeking Tribute award nominations to honor extraordinary women in northern Michigan for their personal accomplishments, commitment to strengthening the community and improving the lives of those who live here.  Honorees are selected from nominations submitted by the community-at-large, and reviewed by a selection committee comprised of community members.  Nomination deadline is Friday, September 5th, 2014.  The WRCNM, and title sponsor The Bank of Northern Michigan, will hold the Tribute awards celebration at Stafford's Perry Hotel in Petoskey at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, November 6th, 2014.
