The Circus is in town Friday June 20th at the Emmet County Fairgrounds. Two performances at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Circus Pages features amazing aerial super stars, acrobats, clowns, horses, and featuring white lions. Plus Pony and Elephant rides!

Come celebrate the 16th Annual Bay Harbor Vintage Car and Boat Festival on June 21st. The fun will start at 10:00 am with our Parade of Cars with commentary by nationally recognized commentator, Ed Lucas. Afterward, our collection of one-of-a-kind vintage cars and classic wooden boats, coming from as far away as California and New Jersey, will be on display in the Village at Bay Harbor.  After the 3:00 p.m. awards ceremony, stay for a meet and greet with pioneering female racecar drive, Janet Guthrie.

 

You are invited to the 2014 Day of Action Volunteer Fair, this Saturday, June 21st, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the public is invited to attend the 2014 Day of Action Volunteer Fair held at the Community Reformed Church in Charlevoix. The Fair will feature local volunteer opportunities for all ages. Many great organizations that will be represented.

There is no cost for the Day of Action Volunteer Fair. A concession will be available with proceeds to benefit the Community Reformed Church Youth Groups. There will also be door prizes given away to attendees at the conclusion of the event.

Lavender Hill Farms Celebrates 10 years this Saturday, June 21. Great Talent. Great Lakes. The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra will present its final Sunday Series Recital of the 2013-2014 season on Sunday, June 22nd at 4:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs.  Admission is free. This event will be the second annual "Winner's Encore Recital," featuring the young performers who won first place and runner-up in the Emerging Artist Competitions sponsored by the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra earlier this year. These competitions were open to youth musicians ages 14 through 19 who reside north of the 45th parallel in Northern Michigan. Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council will be hosting a Northern Michigan Pipeline Symposium on Tuesday, June 24 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The Pipeline Symposium is designed to be highly informative with the opportunity for the Line 5 pipeline operator and the regulatory agencies to share with the public information pertaining to pipeline operation, safety, emergency management, and spill cleanup.  This is a public educational meeting which will provide the public with information to fully understand pipelines and enhance safety in Northern Michigan. Crooked Tree Arts Center is hosting two opportunities for community members to provide input for the Public Art Plan for Downtown Petoskey. The Petoskey Downtown Management Board has recently contracted with the Crooked Tree Arts Center to provide a Public Art Plan. The community forums will be held in the Carnegie Building on Wednesday June 25th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. and Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014  at 5:30 pm. Little Traverse Bay, Past and Present is the Little Traverse Historical Museum's summer 2014 special exhibit. Featuring contemporary images by Rebecca Zeiss and historic photographs, this exhibit documents the tourist economy's development and also serves as a snapshot of the region today. The exhibit's grand opening will be on Thursday, June 26, between 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.  Exhibit creators Michael Federspiel and Rebecca Zeiss will present a program explaining how the exhibit came together and sharing dozens of images from the book that is the exhibit's inspiration.  They will also be signing copies of the book after the program.  Books can be purchased at the event and the program is free and open to the public. The 9th annual Waterfront Wine Festival takes place in downtown Harbor Springs June 28th, 4-7 p.m. Hosted by the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and Scenic Michigan, the event transforms the Harbor Springs waterfront to a wine tasting setting with some of the best wines of Michigan and the U.S. In addition to the wines, food samplings from area dining establishments will be available and there will be raffle tickets with great prizes. Tickets are available from the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce in Harbor Springs, Harbor Springs IGA, Toski Sands Market and Wine Shop, and Glen's Fresh Market. Shakespeare Rehearsal Showcase:  Saturday, June 28th, 2014; 1:00 pm; Bay View Campus Lawn. The public is invited to join the fun on Bay View's historic campus as theatre students rehearse scenes from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The showcase is the culmination of a week-long theatre intensive co-sponsored by Bay View Association and North Central Michigan College.  Location is the lawn near the front of Hall Auditorium. The Petoskey Stars and Stripes are finalizing plans for the Fourth of July festivities. As in the past, there will be a community parade, live music at the waterfront and fabulous fireworks. These festivities would not be possible without donations from our community. Despite a generous donation from the Odawa Casino, the Stars and Stripes are still a long way from their fundraising goal. Please consider supporting them. Weekly Dixieland Worship and concert series begins on July 3rd. The Thursday evening Dixieland Worship Services and Concerts begin on July 3 at 7 p.m. and run through August at the First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey.  The concerts feature the Epsilon Jass Band (EJB). Each week, the 30-minute service of music and message is followed by a one-hour concert filled with the sounds of lively music and glimpses into the history of Dixieland jazz. "An Introduction to Mindfulness for Stress Reduction" will run Tuesday mornings from 10:30-11:45 a.m. beginning July 8th at the office of Integrative Medicine - Carin Nielsen, MD.  Facilitated by Chris Frasz, MSW, the course will introduce participants to the tools and methods of becoming more aware of one's thoughts and feelings through Mindfulness training and practice. Camp Daggett invites the public to participate in wonderful events this spring and summer, supporting scholarships for youth at camp and in the Adventure Center.  Kayaking enthusiasts are invited to participate in the 6th annual Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake, a fundraising event for the Camp Daggett Adventure Center (CDAC), Saturday, July 19th and Sunday July 20th from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Beginners and advanced adult kayakers will paddle the 30 miles along the beautiful Walloon Lake shoreline and raise much needed dollars for scholarships for children to attend Camp Daggett Adventure Center programs. The 6th Annual Little Traverse Triathlon takes place along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Harbor Springs, MI. The 600M swim is in the Little Traverse Bay. The 19.6 mile ride heads up the "Tunnel of Trees" route along M119. The 4 mile run heads along the water and is a flat, fast course. This is going to be a great family event. We will have everyone from the serious triathlete to a ton of first time racers. Harbor Springs is gorgeous in July, let's have some fun! A FREE MINI KIDS RACE is included.
