McLaren Northern Michigan and Local Dermatology practice offers Skin Cancer screening on Wednesday, June 18. Dermatology Associates of Northern Michigan will host the screening from 4-5:30 p.m. at 4170 Cedar Bluff Drive in Petoskey. This is a rapid screening to visually inspect your skin. If indicated, you may need to see your physician for a complete skin care examination. Individuals who have not had a screening of an area of concern on the skin during the last two years are eligible for this skin cancer screening. Those people who are currently being treated by a dermatologist are not eligible to participate in the screening. There is no charge for the screening, but pre-registration is required by calling (800) 248-6777.

Crooked Tree Arts Center is hosting two opportunities for community members to provide input for the Public Art Plan for Downtown Petoskey. The Petoskey Downtown Management Board has recently contracted with the Crooked Tree Arts Center to provide a Public Art Plan. The community forums will be held in the Carnegie Building on Wednesday June 25, 2014 at 10 am and Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 5:30 pm. The 9th annual Waterfront Wine Festival takes place in downtown Harbor Springs June 28, 4-7 pm. Hosted by the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and Scenic Michigan, the event transforms the Harbor Springs waterfront to a wine tasting setting with some of the best wines of Michigan and the U.S. In addition to the wines, food samplings from area dining establishments will be available and there will be raffle tickets with great prizes. Tickets are available from the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce in Harbor Springs, Harbor Springs IGA, Toski Sands Market and Wine Shop, and Glen's Fresh Market. Shakespeare Rehearsal Showcase: Saturday, June 28, 2014; 1:00 pm; Bay View Campus Lawn. Weekly Dixieland Worship and concert series begins on July 3rd. The Thursday evening Dixieland Worship Services and Concerts begin on July 3 at 7 p.m. and run through August at the First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey. The concerts feature the Epsilon Jass Band (EJB). Each week, the 30-minute service of music and message is followed by a one-hour concert filled with the sounds of lively music and glimpses into the history of Dixieland jazz. The 6th Annual Little Traverse Triathlon takes place along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Harbor Springs, MI. The 600M swim is in the Little Traverse Bay. The 19.6 mile ride heads up the "Tunnel of Trees" route along M-119. The 4 mile run heads along the water and is a flat, fast course. This is going to be a great family event. The Little Traverse Association of Home Builders (LTAHB) recently announced its annual awards for distinguished service. Associate of the Year award was Geri Nelson of DTE Energy. Patrice and Doug Carlson of DWS Builders were the Builder of the Year and received top honors from the 2014 Northern Michigan Home Show. Jeff Grantham of Grantham Building and Remodeling received the association's President's Award. Robin Hissong Berry of Pro Build received the Dick Crawford Award. Tom Adams of Birchwood Construction received the Clyde Whaley Award. President Scott Gwizdala of Pro Build presented a Past Presidents Award to Arlene McKinney of Harbor/Brenn Insurance for her past service in 2013.
