Crooked Tree Arts Center announces the Dedication Ceremony of the Bidwell Plaza on Thursday, June 5th at 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served and a brief program will precede a free concert by Kirby Snively. Horticulturist to speak at Castle Farms. Water Quest geocache adventure launched in Emmet County! Explore Emmet County like never before on a scavenger hunt throughout the county, looking for new geocaches (containers) near important, scenic and historical water-related sites. This new geo-trail is called the Emmet County Water Quest (ECWQ), and caches were made public on May 29, 2014. A newly designed water-themed souvenir pathtag (souvenir coin) will be awarded to the first 200 geocachers who locate 25 of the 32 newly placed ECWQ caches. To be eligible for the pathtag, geocachers must travel from cache to cache, discovering the historic "wet" sites in Emmet County and answering specific questions on the passport form. Hospice of Northwest Michigan Welcomes New Executive Director. Charlevoix County resident Amy Wieland has been named the new Executive Director of Hospice of Northwest Michigan. She replaces Cheri Hoffman, who resigned last month to relocate out of state. In this role, Wieland will be responsible for fundraising, managing hospice volunteers, and overseeing long-term grief services for loved ones as part of the end-of-life care the hospice provides in partnership with the Health Department of Northwest Michigan. Tina Lamont, the Health Department's Director of Adult Health, said Wieland's wide-ranging professional and volunteer experience make her a perfect fit for the job.
