Out topic is The Headlands: A Star in Michigan!

Register today for May 20 Connecting Women in Business Luncheon.

In May 2011, the Headlands became the 9th International Dark Sky Park in the world and just the 6th in Michigan! The Headlands is an Emmet County owned and operated park in Mackinaw City, and since receiving this prestigious designation our region has received international attention for the county's dedication to protecting the night sky.

Mary Stewart Adams, who has risen to international recognition for the unique programs she guides at the Headlands, will be the featured presenter.  "Our programs are based on the celestial phenomena happening each month, which makes for dynamic programming because the sky is always changing. Further, because the sky has been studied by every age and culture of human beings throughout history, we have very rich resources, both cultural and scientific, from which to draw. This makes for some really great programming opportunities that always include educating guests about how to mitigate light pollution in their own areas."

Registration and networking begin at 11:30 am. The lunch and presentation will begin at noon and end at 1 pm. Cost is $15 for CWIB members or $20 for not-yet-members. Register online here (http://petoskey.chambermaster.com/events/details/cwib-luncheon-may-20-2014-1785)
