Don't forget to RSVP for the Semicentennial Celebration

April marks the beginning of our 50th anniversary celebration as a campus. On April 26, 1965 the Kansas Legislature approved a bill that established this campus, originally known as Schilling Institute. Over the years, the campus morphed into Kansas Technical Institute and Kansas College of Technology before merging with K-State in 1991.

K-State Salina will be honoring those 50 years of history and the three colleges that came before, as well as our evolution and progress into the future. Throughout the year, the campus will be hosting a variety of anniversary events. Open House will officially kick off our celebration and on April 17, K-State Salina is hosting a formal dinner, dessert and dancing event called the Semicentennial Celebration. If you have not already purchased a ticket, you can do so by logging on here: http://www.salina.k-state.edu/50/celebration.html

Although the campus has changed in many ways over the past fifty years, we are still striving to provide education in highly technical areas and serve the state of Kansas and beyond as a resource in education, research, and public engagement. Cheers to 50 years!

For more information, please contact Kirsten Zoller, events coordinator at zoller@ksu.edu.

K-State Salina helps Girl Scouts achieve 'Entertainment Technology' badge

Nearly 20 girls from regional Girl Scout troops attended a Discover Program held at K-State Salina on Friday, April 3. Girl Scouts attending earned their Entertainment Technology badge by exploring topics in digital media, animation, sound manipulation, and sound recording.

K-State Salina digital media student Sara Holsapple led a session on computer animation where attendees manipulated a graphic to create motion and animation. The sound recording studio in the library was utilized and girls created their own sound effects.
