K-State Proud campaign on Salina campus

In an effort to support the Wildcat family, students in Manhattan created a foundation called K-State Proud to aid their peers with financial assistance. Since 2008, Proud has raised more than $800,000 for student scholarships with the motto of "students helping students." This Thursday, Feb. 19, K-State Proud will be back on the Salina campus from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Tech Center Lobby and the Aero break room.

Since the start of Proud, more than $40,000 has been awarded to 25 Salina students who were in financial need. The goal this year is to spread awareness of Proud and to raise even more money to gift to Salina students. Both booths will be accepting donations of any increment, and donations of twenty dollars or more will receive this year's black K-State Proud shirt. Payments can be made via card, cash, or check. If you do not plan on donating, please stop by to learn about the influence Proud has had in the Wildcat family and the future impact it will have for Salina students.

Come out to learn, support, and apply. Are you Proud?

If you have any questions, please contact Garett Ludlum, student ambassador, at gludlum@ksu.edu.
New features in iSIS

Students can now print verification of their enrollment at Kansas State University at any time by logging into iSIS. Information on the verification includes:

Current program and plan the student is pursuing

Semesters and dates of the student's enrollment

 Student status (example, full-time)

Number of hours in which the student is       enrolled

 Cumulative GPA

 Any completed degrees or plans

Students can access this information by logging into their student center and selecting 'Enrollment Verification' from the "other academic" drop-down menu. Students often request this information when traveling internationally, applying for scholarships, when documentation is needed for health insurance, or for 'good student' discounts. If you have questions, please contact Academic Services at 785-826-2674.

UAS program featured on two news channels
The K-State Salina UAS program received media attention Monday from two new stations in Wichita - KWCH Channel 12 and KAKE Channel 10. The attention was in response to the new proposed FAA and Department of Transportation regulations on unmanned aircraft that are under 55 pounds. The industry has long been awaiting these regulations and the media wanted to get expert information and opinions from our staff for their story.

K-State Salina student Trevor Witt, junior, was interviewed on how these new regulations wouldl help him apply UAS in his career field, while Mark Blanks, UAS program manager, shared his thoughts on how these regulations would affect the program at the university. K-State Salina is one of four universities in the nation that offers a UAS bachelor's degree, and the only one that offers real world application of flying the unmanned aircraft.

2015 Alumni Fellow announced
The Alumni Fellow award is a prestigious honor given to an alumnus who has distinguished him- or herself in their career field. When an Alumni Fellow is chosen, they return to campus to be recognized for their accomplishments as well as impart their expertise and life experiences to students.

K-State Salina has officially announced Beverly C. Gatton as the 2015 Alumni Fellow. Gatton is the twenty-third fellow for campus, graduating in 1986 with an associate's degree in computer technology. She earned her degree while the campus was known as Kansas Technical Institute and has since been connected to K-State Salina by teaching night classes in applied business software for six years. In addition, she has proudly served on the K-State Salina Computer Systems Technology Advisory Board since 2003. Gatton also holds a bachelor's degree in business and public administration from the University of Texas at Dallas and a master's degree in management of information systems from Friends University in Wichita.

Gatton is currently an information technology project manager for Fidelity Information Services in Lenexa, Kansas. FIS is a global provider of technology assistance to the financial services industry and Gatton oversees banking software implementation projects across the United States.

Gatton will be recognized on campus April 16 and 17. This will provide opportunities to meet, congratulate and network with her.

If you have any questions, please contact Julee Cobb, communications and alumni coordinator, at julee@k.edu.

A high-five is one of the most recognizable ways two people can share excitement or celebrate a job well done. K-State Salina's CEO and Dean Verna Fitzsimmons awards her high-five each week to honor faculty, staff and students for their dedication to the university.
